I was just thinking if Jesus is only the mediator for the 144000 then why did god even bother sending him? I am an atheist so I dont know much about the bible. Up until Jesus time and I think after Jesus died god was sending his message through other people. I mean surely he could have sent his message through these people. But he chooses to send Jesus to earth and have him die for our sins. Why didnt he just communicate his message to the 144000 directly? It just seems like alot of extra work for an omnipotent god to send jesus to bring the message to the 144000 to then dispense the food at the proper time to everyone else. Why the middle man?
Why do jws need Jesus?

It has to do with the reasoning that a perfect man (adam) sinned and proved himself unfaithful and thus "sin spread to all man because they had all sinned". Therefore the witnesses reason by way of an illustration of a balance scale that another perfect man had to prove himself faithful to death in order to "redeem" mankind. Which is why they reason Jesus had to be sent. Because there was no man on earth that could have provided the perfect sacrifice since they were all tainted by the sin of adam.

To pay the ransom. That's it. Adam and Eve screwed it up. Jesus was "perfect" and was sacrificed for the rest of us to eventually regain garden of eden perfection. All the other roles for Jesus in the JW religion are irrelevant because JWs do not believe in salvation through Jesus the way the other Christian religions do. Jesus may reign, Jesus may go do battle, Jesus may bake strawbarry rhubarb pies for all of mankind...it's irrelevant. JWs must put their faith, obedience and loyalty in the organization for their salvation. I used to not understand why other Christian religions said the JWs weren't Christian.
Jesus was just payment on a bad debt left by some stupid ancestors as far as JWs are concerned. But for that one miniscule technicality, they really aren't "Christian."

God and Satan are settling a bet. Humans are just pawns. It's all really quite . . . religious.

Well, Jesus had to un do, what Adam did.
Adam brought death, and Jesus, the second Adam brought life, so he had to come.

"God and Satan are settling a bet. Humans are just pawns"
Perfectly expressed! Raising the next question, would a loving parent, the supreme being of the universe, "bet" the well-being of their children to settle a score?

God is a loving parent. He murders his children because he loves them. He told it all to Knorr and Franz and they wrote it up as . . . religion.
Politics, medicine, and education are all religious topics . . . it all came down from God to a brick building in the United States that happened to have a printing press sitting inside it, really. -

God, an all-powerful and all-loving being, decided that it would be fun to damn all of humanity with Adam's sins, and then decided that it would be more fun to send his only child to earth to be murdered in a horrible way to undo it all. Then he decided that if you don't worship him and his son, you'll be damned anyways.

Acceptance in blind faith starts early. I was reviewing the indoctrination brochure today and I was reminded the FIRST concept drilled in to the study is that the Bible is to be trusted as God's word. If the study doesn't pass through this first door, the JW drops them like a hot potato.
Because the REST of the study is looking up scripture after scripture to bolster the JW view of the world. If the study protests, the JW points harder, "See? It's written right here." The study is not taught to read the passage critically, in context.
So we end up with some pretty weird ideas. One thing I would like a JW to explain to me. If Jesus is enthroned since 1914, howcome the world is going to hell in a handbasket (according to the JW's), and why is Satan allowed to have his way with us? Obviously Jesus has been an absentee manager. Probably off building mansions for the 144,000 or something like that. If I had a manager like that, he'd be so fired.
