I'm not a psychologist but you can also try social workers as well as psychologists. Look for someone who has experience with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. The problems coming out of the JWs are almost identical to someone who grew up in an abusive family. The dynamics are the same just on a larger scale.

Although not a psychologist, I worked as an office manager of a psychiatric councelling office for about five years. Yeah, in that time I was able to read a case file of a JW or two. One of which was serving time in a federal prison for his tendency to take sexual advantage of young children.
I digress...this is probablly way off topic and out of line for where your going. I apologize.

You may be able to find a cult exit therapist by visiting www.factnet.org. You may also try visiting the professional association website for psychologists in your area and see if they have listings by specialty. The yellow pages in your phone book might list specialties too (not sure, but maybe).

Jehovah's Witnesses leaving the group after being in for some time are institutionalized much like a prisoner. Witnesses suffer from post exit syndrome like a prisoner released from prison. Find a therapist experienced with post exit syndrome therapy used to treat released prisoners and interview that therapist.
