"Moses, by far the meekest and most humble person" ??
by stuckinarut2 inseriously, how can it be ok for someone to say of themselves that they are "by far the meekest and most humble person" on the earth?.
numbers 12:3 'now the man moses was by far the meekest of all the men on the face of the earth'.
yes, moses was so humble that he told everyone about it!!?!.

Wait, wait... let's just take a step back for a moment...
What evidence is there that the book of Numbers was written by Moses?
(Not being a Bible apologist... just saying) =)

Apologist Wanted - or Play Apologist - Jonah, Nineveh, Repentance
by berrygerry inthe great fish aside, what i could never wrap my head around was the repentance of nineveh.. a city of 140,000 heard one lunatic "prophet" who warned repent or die and the entire city from the king to the least repented in ashes.. insight says this was during jeroboam ii - 844 bc to 803 bc.. and yet, scant decades later, in 740 bc, god used these, the ultimate of cruel, sadistic barbarians to destroy israel.. 1. why would god ask this depraved city to repent, and not ask others, including sodom and gomorrah, to repent?.
2. can one honestly believe that, with god as the one reading all of their hearts, all of 140,000 people sincerely repented?.
3. insight describes the assyrians, in 740 bc, as being of unparalleled cruelty.

The idea of Nineveh repenting is deliberately ludicrous. It is exactly equivalent to a christian missionary going to Syria to tell ISIS that they are all very naughty and within a few days they all repent and start going to church.
Great illustration! =)

I could never understand it myself. All Jonah did was to proclaim: "In just 40 days more, Nineveh will be overthrown." Not a single miracle, no display of supernatural power, nothing!
How the bloody hell is that supposed to be convincing???
And we are expected to believe that he was not harmed in any way by the bloodthirsty & barbaric Assyrians??? They allowed him to insult them before their very faces??? I'm certain that he would definitely have been put to death if this was an actual event...

by scotoma incontinuing my posting to the blind, deaf, & conventionally minded ... you may be out of the jw's but you are still thinking in a box.. now that russia is back it is clear why powerful countries are wary of doing battle with it.
putin is getting his way.. sorry, ukraine, you can't beat putin - bloomberg view.
jan 28, 2015 - ... restrain russia's incursions into ukraine, but they can't defeat putin.

"Big Fish in small goldfish bowls"
by stuckinarut2 inyou know, the more we think about it, jehovah's witnesses are just like "big fish in small goldfish bowls".. yes, they may appear important, or "big" but this is only within a very small sphere of influence - yes only within a small and limited world.. to those outside of that small insular world, they are "no-bodies", unimportant, or at least insignificant in the real scheme of life.. so, the next time something from the witness world seems to be a big issue in our lives, step back and look at things from "outside of the goldfish bowl" .

What's an elder / ministerial servant / pioneer / bethelite / circuit overseer outside the goldfish bowl? NOTHING!!!
It's sickening to see JW's to be awed & give so much reverance to such ones who have "titles" when they have no power, authority, & influence over those in the outside world!

JW Son dead in German plane crash, no big deal!
by noolite inseems to be a jw connection with the crash after all, but it wasn't the co-pilot as some had surmised.
the father of the only american male killed in the crash weighs in with a very mild assessment of the mass murderer, and doesn't seem overly concerned about his son, now deceased.. ---------------------------------------------------------------- .
"the parents of an american victim of the french alps plane crash said on 27 march they feel sadness for the parents of the co-pilot rather than feeling anger for the loss of their son.. robert tansill oliver, a jehovah's witness, lost his 37-year-old son robert oliver calvo in the germanwings plane crash.. "i don t feel anger.

As Witnesses we are peace makers. We are sorry it happened of course. We blame what the bible calls the rule of the world. We are angry with the rule of the world
Wait... so he used the opportunity to give a witness & blame Satan instead of paying tribute to his son??? Crazy!!!
