Looks like it wasn't much at all. Enjoy wasting away the rest of your life as a slave in the cult
i would like to state publicly, on this forum, i no longer hold the views i had a year ago.. with much thought, research, study and logical examination i have come to a better understanding of my beliefs and where i stand on all these issues.. i'm very happy to announce i have returned to healthful teaching of the holy scriptures and i firmly believe that the governing body of jehovah's witnesses is the faithful slave.. sorry if i have contibuted to any kind of stumbling and know that if i can turn things around then there's hope for all who come to there sence.. phill4:6,7.

born ins are in a unique position in that we never knew any other way of life.
no birthdays, christmas and overly superstitious family just seemed normal.
when my parents talked about their pre-jw life it seemed like they were talking about completely different people (actually, that's true, the cult had taken their real selves).. so i'd be interested in hearing how your parents were indoctrinated.. my dad.
My parents were both contacted in their teens. Both of them came from poor families. My dad had lost his father and my mum had an alcoholic father and a mother with severe OCD. Both were at an impressionable age with dysfunctional families and few friends. The desire to find comfort and a greater meaning in life got them sucked into "the truth". My dad ultimately rose to great prominence in the organization and eventually even ended up on the branch committee. My mum pioneered for many years and brought quite a number into "the truth". I guess they fall into the category of people who actually found fulfilment in "the truth". Being well-known and successful with many JW friends, they are quite happy and contented with life... apart from the fact that I - the son who they had spent all these years training to be a good JW - went rogue and left "the truth" in pursuit of a "worldly" girl
part 1 in here: https://www.jehovahs-witness.com/topic/5961287718666240/short-life-story-part-1.
so im 19, i decided to shut up and put all my doubts about god even existing to the back of my mind and just go along with it.
im sure things will be explained eventually, all i need is to humble myself and do more in "the truth" right?.
This is EXACTLY why I believe in living together BEFORE marriage. In JW land, you'll NEVER get to experience and REALLY UNDERSTAND what living together with the other person is actually like BEFORE you decide to spend the rest of your life WITH them!
the song is supposedly about marveling at god's creation but instead includes over the top adoration of the elders, conventions, and family worship.
lol getting a brother who sounds like a wannabe josh groban only adds to the cheesiness.

Agree with all the other comments here... apart from what has already been said, just would like to add that the song sounded very dull & drab... unsurprisingly. Just like the majority of the other JW songs. It sounded like the composers were trying to squeeze the lyrics INTO the song! Plus the reference about the convention being "the best one yet" was totally vomit-inducing!
it's biggest problems are associated with its lack of genuine love and concern for the rank& file.
the average person doesn't need a food critic to tell them their hamburger is shit, in the same manner the average person can discern kindness and love.
gbs fake love and concern is evident in the way head office deals with victims of sexual abuse by jw clergy.
The problem is many JW's put up with the lack of love problem by using the 'imperfect men' excuse. They might view it as a local problem which pales in comparison to the "worldwide brotherhood". They justify it by thinking that there is still no better religion and that Jokehova would set things straight in his due time. The fact is that many ARE aware that there is a lack of love, YET fail to do anything about it due to the reasons above. It was however a major factor which led me to discover TTATT
so as i sit here listening to the sunday morning bs session the elder on the stage yapped about religion and that there can only be one religion leading to god.
he used the illustration of a bicycle wheel.
it has many spokes and they all lead to the center.
Stupidest illustration: Jehovah / Jesus / the elders are like shepherds who care for the flock
Is everyone so dumb as to NOT realize that the sheep being cared for are slaughtered for food in the end???

was there something that was said to you that got the wheel turning in your brain, that caused you to start waking up to ttatt, either by a jw or ex-jw that you didn't know was awake?
i'm trying to think of things i can say or ask of my current family members still in that may help them to start seeing the real truth about the organization.
they think we're still in..
This approach might not work for your family, but the point it touches on really made me think:
"I read in the news the other day about a father who killed his own child. Don't you agree with me that this is disgusting? A father who kills his own children!"
(JW would definitely agree that this is horrible, repulsive, unloving, etc.)
"So you agree? Now think about your belief that your so-called "loving father" Jehovah would kill billions of his children at Armageddon!!!
my thought bubble in the 1980s:.
"how can i engage with worldly people when they are just not interested in discussing these important topics as featured in the watchtower and awake?.
my thought bubble in the 2010s:.
My thought bubble as a teenager:
I'm so glad to have the truth!
My thought bubble now as a young adult:
I'm so glad to have the truth!
...and need a bullet to the head.
my wife found a post on instagram where some jw nutter claims that either lett or morris said this in a talk.
any confirmation or video of such?
Full story:
A farmer had a pet dog who despite being well cared for was envious of the freedom enjoyed by the wild dogs outside his farm. They often invited him to join their pack but he refused, saying that he had a duty towards his master. One day, after another encounter with the wild dogs, curiosity got the better of him and he decided to join them to see how life would be like in the wild. Well, it was really fun at first! They ran around freely without a care in the world, doing whatever they wanted, even raiding farms and killing the livestock there for food. One day, he ran with the pack and somehow ended up outside his former home. Seeing many chickens there, the greedy dog pack decided to raid the farm and carry away as many chickens as they could. Although feeling guilty, this dog wanted to prove himself to the pack and joined in the raid on his former master's farm. As the dogs ran in to attack the chickens, there was a sudden burst of gunfire and this dog was hit by one of the shots. As he lay critically injured and dying on the ground, he saw his former master walking towards him. "Why... oh why did you shoot me??", he cried. "Didn't you know it was me???" Looking down at the dirty and unkempt dog, the farmer said: "Sorry boy, but I just didn't recognise you"
Moral of the story: If we succumb to peer pressure and the temptations of the world, we may end up suffering a similar fate — being destroyed at Armageddon because God no longer recognises us
Having being in the audience and personally hearing this story being related from the platform on several notable occasions (assemblies & conventions), I can indeed verify the authenticity of this illustration being used in JW land. However, it is yet to be proved that it indeed came from the mouth of one of the GB members themselves
I hope this helps to clarify things a bit
