  wt is retiring district overseers, has sent older jws serving at bethel packing despite years of faithful service, and as of june 1, 2014, has announced that any elder that has reached 80 years of age is no longer valued or wanted as a cobe.

  in wt land it would appear that older people have little or no value, and wt sees no reason to use them in any meaningful capacity.

  i wonder how this makes older ones feel after devoting their lives to wt's interests while shelving their own hopes and dreams?.

  The thing is if someone has decided they want a divorce they should be free to ask for one without having to stoop to such lengths.

  This guy who went to the prostitute, I always felt thought that he did it because he wanted to provide her with scriptural divorce grounds so she could remarry. In some warped way he felt he was doing her a favor. And seeing how she reacted possibly bears out that theory.

  Personally, I would have just walked away, if the guy wants out that bad just let him go already, who wants that in their life.

  What this story highlights to me, is how utterly cruel it is to impose a "you must have scriptural reasons for divorce or you are not free to remarry"rule.

  It is completely unrealistic to not expect that in real life relationships break down. Look at King Davids sordid little love life.

  A Thread for Cyclists - Where Do you Ride?

  i took up cycing a couple of months ago just to get fitter and lose a bit of excess weight.. i bought a second-hand hybrid bike (weighs only slightly less than a truck) and fitted road tyres.

  four or five times a week i will go for a ride after work for an hour or so.

  i am fortunate enough to live in rural north england surrounded by limitless quiet roads.

  It looks gorgeous spot where you ride.

  I have a very "girlie" bike with basket on the front, but that does'nt stop me flying along "free as the wind" most afternoons at about 5:30pm.

  I ride along a beautiful bike track that takes you along a serpentine path on the coast all the way to a bluff- complete with candy-stripe lighthouse.

  Probably takes about 45 mins round. Just enough to get the heart pumping feel the wind in your face and blow away the cobwebs of the mind.

  I listen to music while I ride, nothing like it for stress release.

  Oh, and I hope to graduate to a more serious bike ASAP.

  five days a week, donald guinn, 59, goes door-to-door in his eastpointe, michigan neighborhood to deliver the message of the jehovah's witnesses.. it's a requirement of his faith to preach the gospel and one that he and more than 40,000 members in 200 congregations in southeastern michigan take seriously.. on friday, guinn will be one of about 45,000 jehovah's witnesses from around the world expected to flock to ford field for a three-day annual convention that kicks off a series of international conventions taking place in coming months.

  in july, there will be another jehovah's witnesses gathering in detroit, also expected to draw 45,000.. the theme is keep seeking first god's kingdom, a belief that eventually god's kingdom of peace will come to earth.

  Shaving: Wet or Electric?

  something i ponder about now and again.

  i don't shave that much, maybe twice a week so it's not even a big deal, but i saw someone at the health club using an electric shaver and that got me pondering all over again.. .

  i've been using mach iii recently and fairly happy with that.

  you'd think they could point to something right?

  obviously we're the one true religion".. i can't fathom how anyone of any intelligence would be willing to join up with this org after doing even rudimentary research.. for years they have taught that it's wrong to seek advanced education or to plan for a "worldly" future by trusting in this system of things and then this past sunday the watchtower article rips on people for not planning for the future in regard to their elderly relatives.

  maybe if they hadn't been teaching for 100 yr's that the end was "just around the corner" and telling us we'd better believe that fact...or else, we would have planned better for a future that you said without reservation would not even occur.. what mind blowing prediction can they point to that would convince someone "oh yeah..these guys have it right"...?.

  I peronally know a sister who told me her harrowing story.

  She and her hubby were at bethel then circuit work, then settled near family in my cong's territory he being a elder.

  Hubby decides he wants divorce so decides to go to hooker comes home same night tells my friend (his wife):

  "I have just been to prostitute, I want a divorce, I will admit being unfaithful so you are free to remarry lets go see lawyer tomorrow."

  My friend freaks out, calls elders, tells them what he has done.

  The elders meet with him the next day, then they meet with her.

  The elders tell her that her husband was "driven to this" because she was a controlling nag and they had proof of this because the other elders remembered times in their presence when she refused to allow him to go fishing.

  My friend was beside herself with grief because the elders appeared to be siding with him.

  In time a short space of time sanity seemed to prevail and they DF him, she divorced him.

  Imagine her surprise then, when only 6mnths later at a SAD, she looks over and who should be sitting all cozy with one of the elders and his family.

  Her ex.

  Sure enough it was announced next service meeting he had been reinstated (he had moved to neighboring cong by then.)

  My friend hits the roof she is livid she embarks on this one woman mission to destroy this SOB.

  She tells anyone that will listen, she cries foul loud and clear but only gets counseled to "stop it or else".

  Just when she thinks all is lost a young sister comes to visit her with info about her ex. The young sis claims to have been having affair with her ex.

  Right now she has got him, my friend and the young sis travel about 2hrs across the city to the branch and refuse to leave until someone listens to their story. (She and him used to be in bethel so she knew a few people there).

  The two women told their stories the incident was investigated and eventually he was DF again.

  I wish I could say she is ok but no, the elders both here and other neighboring congs hate her guts.

  They have been trying for years to prove she is an apostate. But she hangs in there still hoping in Jehovah.

  There is so many more horrifying details to this story these are just the highlights.

  Case of sad but all true.
