That's truly wonderful news. Good for her. Yay girl power!
I wish more women would wake up.
i learned this past week that my wife is now awake.
i just shared the pbs newshour segment with her with no comment other than something along the lines of, "jw story on pbs.".
she is furious at the arrogance of these men.. thats what happens when you get a momma angry!.

these excerpts i'm sharing with you are from the july 1st, 1989 letter from the wt society to the elders and it gives outsiders a good idea of the attitude of the wt society leaders towards child abuse victims and even towards their own appointed elders.
and it shows wt society is first, foremost, and mainly concerned about financial fallout from potential lawsuits.
one short quote was used from this letter on the abc news nightline report about candace conti - but what i'm going to share with you will be other excerpts from that same letter that are just as, or even more revealing.
in a recent thread someone mentioned that the wtbts uses mind control techniques.
do you think this is a conscious ploy?
if it is it would mean that the leaders of my religion (i am still an active jw) set out consciously to control people.
There is enough info about the psychology of mind control and coercion tactics available to the average person now that it would be difficult to believe they don't know that they are perpetrating one massive mind-f#$k on the sheeple.
Not to mention the avaiability of info re the strategies that marketing consultants and advertising agencies employ.
They would have to, on some level know what they are doing.
(originally posted march, 2014)anyone who has awakened to ttatt and has conscientiously left the organization--especially a once-prominent, highly-regarded, studious believer from a prominent multi-generational tribe of jws-- after decades of devout, high-profile "serve-us," who continues to put in an annual appearance at the memorial thoroughly subverts and undermines, by this one act, any hope s/he may entertain that his/her departure will stir family or former friends to question the whole watchtower bamboozle.
by this one concession s/he assigns him-/herself by every single jw to their handy and dimissive purgatory: the "spiritually-weak.".
nothing blasts a louder, clearer, and more deliberate message to the jws who personally knew you and those familiar with your jw bona fides that you are not merely "not making the meetings," "inactive," or "spiritually-weak," but that there is a conscientious reason you have rejected the entire watchtower society life than choosing to forego what they know you once believed to be jehovah's must-attend, one-and-only, holy/sacred event of the year for his people, the lord's evening meal.. you hand them the very justification they so relish to self-righteously label you as a "submarine witness" deserving of jehovah's, and more importantly, their judgement.
If I honestly believe the JW religion is cruel and dangerous family-hating cult - which I do by the way.
I would no sooner "pay respect" to their beliefs by attending their memorial than I would attend a neo-nazi pep rally.

Classic cult propoganda - "anyone not for us, is against us.
It seems that along with the cry-babies who claim to have had their rights violated by being abused, they identify blabbermouth elders as being the weakest link. Ironically the same qualified- to-deal-with-squat- elders HQ would have rubber stamped for appointment.
What a cruel farce this religion is.
can anyone confirm they seem to be having disagreement writing dept and service dept some feel that df ok as long as you do not add wholesale across the board shunning regardless of the sin ..
I'll go against consensus here and say I see it as distinctly possible.
And of course the GB will come out the other end as heroes, maybe not to the poor bastards who have been shunned for years, but the ones who would go along with anything the GB told them to.
so, this happened a while ago - but i never posted on it.
during a co visit, he gave a talk relating to jesus ransom (i think) and the "debt" that was owed by sin, etc.... he kept saying "debt" and he kept pronouncing the "b".
so it sounded like "deb-t".
supposing a man's wife has had an affair, confessed all and genuinely regrets what's happened.
the husband, after much soul searching and agonising, realises how much he still loves her and how much both of them want to rebuild their shattered relationship.. why should that woman then have to sit in front of a judicial men-only committee and give a blow-by-blow account of her affair?.
how would that make her husband feel, knowing that his wife is sharing intensely private stuff about her affair with several other guys?.
The Salem witch trials comes to mind. Same mentality.
Men have been doing this sort of thing to women for centuries.
The borg's intrusive policies regarding this sort of thing may just bring it down ...one day.
several times over the past few months i have had conversations, both here and in real life, with religious people making all sorts of interesting and conflicting claims.
i like to know how things work, so generally i will ask questions to net out what i am being told and see if it can be explained and make sense.. for instance, if someone said 2+2=4 and i asked how, there are a variety of ways that could be shown to me, a number line, physical objects being put together, counting on fingers and toes, etc.
indeed, in my personal life, i often have to explain how certain technologies work, sometimes planned, sometimes off the cuff, from a variety of group sizes to a varying degree of technical expertise.
I just figure it's a face saving thing. They figure they can't in one breath claim the bible has all the answers and in the next breath admit there are some things they just don't know. As soon as you claim one book has all the answers of the universe contained within it's pages ( an impossibity) anything not covered in the book has to be either false or not worth knowing in order to maintain your original claim that you have all the answers.
It's becomes frustratingly circular.
