What would happen?
Oh lordy, the crying, the wailing, the youtube videos, it would be worse than the boy band one direction breaking up.
with the organization controlled, totally and completely by the governing body, what would the watchtower society do to hold it all together if all or most of the governing body were to die?.
would the legal department step in and issue orders?
would the rest of the gb quickly appoint new members?
What would happen?

the gb member's smile in the shape of a moneybox's slit speaks volumes about predictable entries in cash expected by jw's org.!!.

i've been looking on this site for some time but never posted.
i'll give a little about myself, but not too much.
i'm a ex-bethelite ( brooklyn )and currently serving as an elder (10 years) (thinking about stepping down) on the service committee.
You say many of the "friends" know about the scandals and failed prophecy and just "don't care."
That's not the case where I live. If the bro's hear anything about say child abuse cases for eg, they immediately
defend the org and say the claims are lies by apostates.
But even if they believed the acusations and just "didn't care" that would be worse.
I do care!

48 hours investigates accused killer who impersonated journalist.

@cha ching - There seemed to be so many strange details about this case that didn't seem to add up.
For instance the sister he married was older than him she was the "babysitter"?? (Weird!)
They got married and started up a business (cleaning?) and hired all bro's and sis' s, which of course made them real popular. He got appointed as a mini servant if I remember correctly, but it was all unraveling behind the fascade, and then the cong really turned their back on them as a family and the guy just couldn't take it.
This in no way excuses him snapping the way he did but I honestly think he is a psychopath in the textbook definition of the word. The way it was potrayed in the book it seemed like the cong was only interested in them while they were running a successful business, employing half the cong and being the toast of the town.
I really felt that the cong let down this woman and her children badly.
All the descriptions of congregation life for this couple sounded like a very familiar scenario, and I thought, wow I have met couples like this and been in congregations like this.

I read the book the journalist wrote about this story. Chilling to say the least.
In fact, reading this story contributed to me waking up.
stephen lett walks down columbia heights and passes a little girl with a box full of kittens.
he asks what type of kittens they are.
why they are jehovahs witness kittens of course, she replies.
you know, the more we think about it, jehovah's witnesses are just like "big fish in small goldfish bowls".. yes, they may appear important, or "big" but this is only within a very small sphere of influence - yes only within a small and limited world.. to those outside of that small insular world, they are "no-bodies", unimportant, or at least insignificant in the real scheme of life.. so, the next time something from the witness world seems to be a big issue in our lives, step back and look at things from "outside of the goldfish bowl" .
Should be their slogan- You too can be a little fish in a miniscule puddle!
In fact, I've often thought that the JW religion attracts people for that very reason.
No education or qualifications required.
as someone brought up as a jw and been an elder and been disfellowshipped (twice!!!
) i find it difficult to understand why ex jws have to attack the religion, yes religion, not cult or sect.
i am no longer disfellowshipped just do not want to practice anymore.
So you joined up and posted just to shake your head and wag your finger at all the naughty kids being rude and disrespectful to the org? 😕
Sorry if I'm missing something, but where do you get off telling anyone how to feel or how to react?

I don't like my chances of pushing any money through that tight-lipped smile. Lol.
seems to be a jw connection with the crash after all, but it wasn't the co-pilot as some had surmised.
the father of the only american male killed in the crash weighs in with a very mild assessment of the mass murderer, and doesn't seem overly concerned about his son, now deceased.. ---------------------------------------------------------------- .
"the parents of an american victim of the french alps plane crash said on 27 march they feel sadness for the parents of the co-pilot rather than feeling anger for the loss of their son.. robert tansill oliver, a jehovah's witness, lost his 37-year-old son robert oliver calvo in the germanwings plane crash.. "i don t feel anger.
Strangely enough, I found a lot of witnesses seemed relieved when someone died
because they felt it meant they were guaranteed a resurrection.
That would explain their cavalier attitude to dying.
