i hope it's not staged because that would hurt her credibility, but they ran with this story today:.
The article mentions that this lady lives in a small town and small town witnesses are the worst. Especially if that small town is located in a bible belt area. I'm talking pitchforks and torches.
It may help her case rather than harm it, though.

last night and elder gave the bible highlights at the congregation.
he talked about apostasy.
and among other things he said: "report to the elders if you hear anyone in the congregation talking bad about the governing body".
I wonder if nittygritty has reported us all to the elders yet?
I can imagine it now.....

some of you may know, that bill bowen has twice tried to get the fbi involved in investigating child molestation issues in the jws org.
this is what he said to me, i quote: we have reported to the fbi on two occasions and were rebuffed due to them not wishing to get involved with a religion.

At the end of the day what recommendations will be made remains to be seen until all the institutions being called to "please explain" have been called. This will take some time it has already been going for a while already, it's just JW's turn at the moment. The thing to remember is that our beloved cult is on recieving end of some serious scrutiny, the likes of which is unprecedented in this country. That is a good thing. This is just the first domino in a line of dominos.

I have zero sympathy for these elders.
In fact the only thing I do feel is disgust. Disgust for their pathetic responses.
They are not the victims here. They are willful accomplices to the obstruction of justice, they are a disgrace.

So it's up to the individual to decide whether or not to report a crime like murder to the police, and the elders would not do so. But if that same person were to....oh I don't know let's just say....unrepentantly smokes cigarettes, they would get expelled from the congregation.
