Have they ever considered that some of the "partakers" were just great crowd members who felt peckish because they went to the memorial straight after work and didn't have time to eat???
Lol.
pdf .
this issue contains the study articles for february 29 to april 3, 2016.. what about the number of those partaking at the memorial?12, 13. why should we not worry about the number of those who eat the bread and drink the wine at the memorial?12 in recent years, we have seen an increase in the number of those partaking at the memorial of christs death.
that trend contrasts with the decrease in the number of partakers that we saw for many decades.

many people are understandably upset and angry at the notion that jws have the right to shun people.
it seems such an obvious "no brainer" cruel and inhuman thing to do - it must be wrong ... surely?.
of course we look at things from the perspective of those hurt and harmed by shunning.
Any "power" JW elders have is only a percieved power.
The elders manual is not a legitimate law book.
The GB is not a legitimate agency with any legitimate power to do anything.
the prime minister of england made the above statement yesterday regarding any schools that influence youths in a negative manner.. he went on to say that if youths are influenced in a negative manner regarding religious teachings that promote judgement of others (including same sex relationships, etc ) or that look down on other peoples free choice, the government would take action.. i cant find a newspaper article sorry...i just heard it on the radio news.... very interesting though...it may have a bearing on how those who learn ttatt are treated by the organization??
.
@Vidiot - you know "word salad" is a symptom of brain disease.....huh, that explains a lot about your posts.
( bazinger! only joking)

I am only referring to the personal right of individuals to decide for themselves who they do or don't talk to.
Not the responsibility of religions to care for their members. That's a whole other debate.
At the end of the day Simon is right. Each indivudual has a right to choose who they are friends with.
But don't get me wrong, religious leaders DO NOT have the right to decide that for individuals.
Enforced shunning is wrong !!!
what is a cult and what is a religion?
its open to debate.
who has the authority to say for certain what is a cult and what is a religion?
You ask "who has the authority to say what is a cult and what a religion"
Those who have qualifications and study cults would have the authority.
This is not a mystery subject, there are criteria for "what is a cult."
Better question: Who would NOT have the authority?
The bloody WT that's who.
we talk a lot about most jws being uneducated, uninformed, and that they lack critical thinking skills, but in my area there is a lot of jws that went to the university, medical school, law school, and came back to the organization.
in my circuit, that i know of, we had two electrical engineers, one computer engineer with a ph.d. eight teachers with a bachelors degree and three of those with a masters in education.
we had two medical doctors, one was a pediatrician who closed his business about 3 years ago and went to bethel.
Indoctrination and cult recruitment has nothing to do with IQ or education.
Stephen Hassan was recruited by the Moonies at University if I remember correctly.
its been a little over 2 years since i left the watchtower.
in that time the magazines have been cut, the birth of jwtv, jw-org.
carts for preaching, removed district overseers, cut assemblies, demand all the money from the congregations, stop construction and layoff bethelites, change the format of the tmschool .
@Dunedain- " They have no clue what they are doing."
I think they know exactly what they are doing. Their WT universe has come about by design , not accident.
