When is a theory 'just a theory'?

the titles of cofty's excellent recent posts are all preceeded by the words "evolution is a fact...".

richard dawkins is encouraging people to use the term 'fact' in relation to evolution, especially when debating with creationists as the word 'theory' is confusing to many, and the latter often takes the discussion off on an often unproductive tangent.

Theory means unproven to JWs until they are describing the overlapping generations theory then it is fact.

It reminds me of how JWs use the term "critical thinking" like it really means bitchy thinking.

Yep, I knownof several cases where this happened. I think it is more common than many people would think. The elders (in the instances I know of) will tell the brothers not to talk about it, because it's negative and discouraging.
