Problem with the Like and Dislike Buttons
by Listener inthere is a problem with the like and dislike buttons.
depending on what source you are using it is easy to vote more than once on the like or dislike.. i noticed this initially on my tablet touchscreen.
if i tap quickly & continuously click on the like/dislike button, it will register as multiple votes, the same happens on my laptop when i do the same thing with my mouse but this method doesn't register as many votes.it is only a matter of time for others to pick up on this and there may be some who are already aware of this.

The like/dislike thing is just a simple form of a rudimentary peer review system intended to make people think twice before posting - I suspect. But, like all peer review systems they can be used a weapon to score personal points. -

JW marriages: “They” looked good on paper.
by Londo111 ini applaud anyone, male or female, who overcomes shallowness and looks at a person’s deeper qualities, especially in regard dating and marriage.
the movie and fashion industry does much to institute shallowness to the point that, in my opinion, it promotes outright discrimination and judgmentalism even as they give lip service to tolerance..
on the other hand, among jehovah’s witnesses, there seem to be a preponderance of incompatible marriages.

Awww, you "love and miss us"? Really? Then why ignore us?
by stuckinarut2 inso we received the obligatory "shoved under the door" memorial invitation and "return to jehovah" brochure the other week.
it also had a hand written note from two elders saying "we love and miss you" etc.... so why then when one of them saw us at the grocery store, did he pretend to not see us and then ignore and quickly walk away?.
the sincerity is wonderful..... dont get me wrong, we dont want any attention from them, but it's an interesting observation anyway.....

Yoj gotta remember the JW dick -tionary has different defintions to words like love and miss than regular english dictionaries.
To the dub -
love = various forms of shunning and humiliation.
miss = doh! we can't control you if you are not there.

Spreading the "Religion of Peace" in Europe
by freemindfade inso sad.
i love europe.
i love going there not as a tourist, but just blending in and spending time with locals in non-touristy local gems.. islam seems to be spreading their religion of peace throughout the continent.

They don't even take the memorial seriously, why should anyone else.
Gimme a break, an "important occasion" really?? What a joke.

Jehovah’s Witnesses are Taught to Lie but to then Lie about Lying
by Terry injehovah’s witnesses are taught to lie but to then lie about lying.
first off, let’s define what it means to tell a lie.
i prefer the definition offered by aristotle way back in 4th century b.c.e.

It's all about the information.
Who controls the information controls the power.

Did you participate in a Drama?
by Hecce ini am bringing this up because even it was a lot of work, for the majority of the friends this was a rewarding experience.
camaraderie, joking, costumes, props and when the time came the celebrity status of being in the drama.. back in the 50s and 60s, conventions could be as long as 8 days and from about 1966 the dramas became an integral part of the program.
we had one per day and the brothers looked forward to their presentation.

I had the opposite experience to you stuck. It was during rehearsals for dramas that I felt what seemed like genuine comradery, possibly because we were all out of our comfort zone and so we relied on each other a bit more, I really can't explain why.
Of course the same people would go back to being their usual jerky selves back at the KH.

That's what makes an effective cult. If you can program/train someone to lie to themselves then you can do whatever you want with them.
Changing the wording changes the intent also. For eg with DFing, inhuman shunning becomes "loving discipline" which is basically a lie they told us and then we told ourselves. Lying is a science and an art form for these people.

What's the difference between 'works' and 'fruits'?
by TTWSYF inmy uber jw elder brother used to use jesus's quote "you know a tree by it's fruit" and then would speak about how jws are the only ones going door to door and restoring god's true name.. my niece was the first to point out that those were works and not fruits.
my brother retreated for a few days to contemplate the difference between works and fruits and when he returned to address the comment, he stated that works are fruits.
what's the take from the jw apologist?.

Works are all the free labor you provide to WT.
Fruits are the anger and resentment, depression and anxiety, that build up slowly over the years of slaving for the WT.

Yes, I played a part in three dramas. After I was asked the first time I became one in a kind of "stable" of sisters they would get to do anything drama-ry. They were happy times and it was probably the only times I felt truly useful.
But sad huh.
