  jw strive to follow golden rule by treating others the way themselves would like to be treated so they want to be shunned because they shunn others.

  That's the real kicker with JWs many that get disfellowshiped for some "offense" they admit to committing would say that it's painful and they don't like it's, but, they deserve to suffer the consequences because Jehovah's org has to be kept clean etc, and, if the situation was reversed they themselves would comply with shunning another.

  I know, cause I've met them and I used to think the same way.

  That's the chilling beauty of effective indoctrination, break someone's natural conscience to the point that they believe they actually deserve whatever punishment or emotional abuse is dished out to them, and that they have the right to enforce these "god-given" standards on others if ordered to.

  Kind of sado-masochistic when you think about it.

  I noticed this W Kelly person claims "witnesses can believe anything they want" ....they just shouldn't "promote or advocate anything different to what the organization teaches..." as it "causes divisions" ...blahdy blah...

  That statement should come with a Theocratic warfare alert I don't remember being allowed to believe whatever I wanted.

  Jehovah Witness vs Jehovah's Witness

  being brought up as a jehovah's witness means you are so used to the term that you rarely stop to think about it.. one thing i've noticed is that people unfamiliar with the religion will say "jehovah witness" (no 's) instead which i always found a bit grating.. but watching the us election, something struck me.

  people are often referred to as "trump supporters", not "trump's supporters" and so on.

  thinking about other things, people would say they were "united fan's", not "united's fans" and so on.. it seems weird that a group would refer to themselves as though it was someone else talking about them (in the 3rd person, if i have that right).. what do you think?

  I always felt the reason for pendantic emphasis on the correct "I am one of Jehovah's Witnesses" as all good dubs are trained to say was more about ownership and reminding you of who you belong to.

  I am one of Jehovah's Bitches would be a better modern description, cept it's the borg that owns dubs not sky daddy, so more accurately JWborg's Bitches.

  If by "question" you mean critically then I can't think of many situations where you can question critically anyone who has some kind of power over you. The only way around that, if you really want to be heard, is to go to the person that has power over them.

  And therein lies the problem. Religions have a free pass in many ways like discrimination for eg because God is their boss and only the highest ranking in the group have access to that boss - kinda sucks doesn't it.

  has anyone noticed that witnesses (from the top down) seem to have a quiet form of smug arrogance toward all non witnesses?.

  perhaps it comes from being told how "special and unique" they are but they end up looking down on all normal members of the community because they are not witnesses.. so any form of "love" they show those in the territory is also limited as long as they accept the message...otherwise they are viewed contemptuously as "worldly" and therefore of little value...after all,they will be destroyed right?.

  Well they are chosen by the most high himself and will live on in a paradise earth while everyone else (including gay people) die horribly and will not be mourned or buried.

  In the video there is a buffer between Sophia and the classmate as she goes home and tells mom who then tells her what to do. But in reality the message will be given directly to the kids because it's a video designed for kids.

  Kids are not known for their tactfulness, or ability to contextualize they will say the darndest things after all. Most parents of children under ten or so know to be careful what to tell them as they can blurt stuff out in a way that sounds offensive or even wrong to any random person. The governing body won't have to deal with any potential blowback from this video's message the witness kids will. Shit rolls downhill, sorry kids.
