  Why is the approval of family so important?

  one of the reasons people remain pimo is fear of losing family.

  those that are disfellowshipped and shunned regularly comment about how devastated that they have lost the approval of their parents.. when i respond to emails from people saying how difficult it is being estranged or looked down on by their parents, i would like to say that over time they will come to terms with it, except i not sure that people ever do.

  i cannot shake that feeling either.

  I think approval of parents and family can be so hard to let go of as adult ex jws because as a JW you never really have unconditional approval from them. You are only ever as "good" as your last good works.

  If your good works slip your family's approval rating of you slips as well, that's not true approval or love that's doling out treats for desired behavior and withdrawing it for unwanted behavior, like training an animal!

  WT indoctrinates its members that approval from other witnesses is more important than life itself.

  How WT screws people and families up is gift that keeps giving, that's for sure.

  Another day, another cart

  i was standing at a red light and i noticed the little cart standing there.

  they're barely noticeable and when i continued there was apparently someone on the other side of the street too.

  the only problem, the location is a very busy intersection which has virtually no foot traffic and they're hard to see to begin with, as you can see from my vantage point i couldn't even read the cart and three people next to them on this side and two of them on the other side.. .

  The cart I walked past just this week was right in front of and I mean right in front of an ATM (automatic teller machine) the scruffy weirdos manning the thing dressed in thrift shop wear circa 1885.

  Not a good look WT.

  one of the most frustrating things.

  when you confront jw's about what they believe they will often deny it.

  such as "if your child is disfellowshipped then you can't have contact with them ever again".

  WT are the Kings of spin, denial and obfuscation and demand the same from their followers. I see it as part of the indoctrinated mindset and very difficult to reason with, it's like hitting your head on brick wall talking to them.

  Why would Watchtower fight Stratton Ohio

  why would watchtower sue stratton ohio, and then laud it over and over in their books?

  the town doesn't even have 300 people, why would they pick on such a small town.

  they are promoting it so much at this week's meeting.

  I don't know anyone here well enough to like or dislike, how well can you know someone from a few lines or paragraphs on a forum. Besides, I try to keep "like" out of the equation when reading another's comments and posts because even people you don't "like" or agree with can raise interesting points or make astute observations that cause you to think. There is something to learn from everyone.

  shortly before i left the "troof" a co had given a talk during his visit.

  at the time there was a scandal going on in the congregation where 2 couples basically swapped spouses with each other.

  it was quite the scandal.

  some of the pro-jws are comparing the award reception to that of shadrach, messach, and abendego.

  therefore excusing it as perfectly acceptable in the eyes of god.

  that just seems a bit of a stretch to me, given that the jws talk about political neutrality, ect.

  russian jw mr novik is shown in full view on jw org wearing the "parental glory" badge with its prominent cross pattee on his lapel - and not one word of caution is sounded.

  similarly, jw forums are abuzz singing the praises of mr and mrs novik and their brood after they received the parental glory honor from no less than jw-oppressor, mr putin.. from the stinking gb heaven all the way down to the dusty rank and file, the hypocrisy is sky-high.

  Do current JWs even give a crap about "pagan" symbols anymore?

  Maybe they make an exception for anything "pagan" aslong as it has the word "Glory" in front of it. They hear the word "Glory" and their little JW eyes light up and their little JW pleasure centres activate and they're like "Glory, did someone say glory where where..."

  They're probably responding to the word "medal" as well, it's right up there with "reward" and "privilege" - in their mind.
