i cant believe what i'm hearing... actually, nothing surprises be about this cult anymore.. didn't they say to the judge in the arc that they dont discourage college?.
How much of a big fat hairy hypocrite would you have to be to be a Dr or lawyer at bethel?
OMG, imagining the level of cog diss required to maintain that kind of split-brain charade makes my head hurt.
a lot of religious folks can have an open-minded discussion about their beliefs without getting defensive.
some can actually consider things from another point of view and point out the validity in the other person's point.
obviously, a lot of jws may just be scared to think/speak in a semi-detrimental way about their religion.
There's no need for an open mind, research, facts, other peoples points of view if you already have all the answers.
That's why cults/religions make sure to provide an answer for everything, even if the answer is "leave it in God's hands" or "we shall find out the answer to ______ in the new world" or "don't read that it's from the devil."
Some people desperately need an answer to everything, it's like a security blanket for the mind to have all the answers and religion is happy to provide - for a small donation. Ironically, it's this need for everything to fit into a neat box that cuts them off from really learning.
It's understandable to want answers but the truth is we will never have all the answers and there will always be stuff to learn - I now find that propspect more exciting than scary.
i was born in the religion but why on earth do people join this religion?
?.
The cult doesn't attract anybody it goes out and deliberately and methodically hunts them down with notes on them and everything, it's called recruiting. How many people would be attracted to a cult if it never came to their door or refugee camp or prison?

Do people still become JWs these days? I thought the only growth these days was in third world, poorer and non-english speaking places or maybe amongst refugees.
The reasons behind this kind of "growth" is obvious - people in desperate circumstances are easy prey to cults. I'm not going to blame the victims here. People in economic and physical dire straits are not stupid or idiots they're just vulnerable.
Crushing poverty and high crime is common in places where WT is making converts and WT knows that, have a f***ing heart.

note to the circuit overseer:.
use this outline for the tuesday service talk from september 2017 through february 2018. you will need to prepare your own 30-minute service talk for use after the watchtower study.
Unquestioning loyalty - part of the indoctrinated cult personality.
after being a jw made me lose trust in religion, from the lies, hypocrisy and greed of this organization made me lose faith completely.
what does one do after this mind f$%@, what is there to look forward to?
do i make up my own agnostic theory in head and hope for the best?
I know what you mean re religion. After my "faith" shattering experience with JWs I view all organized religion as businesses selling a version of salvation they cannot deliver IOW the ultimate scam!
As far as the deeper questions of life go, give yourself time because now you have the freedom to investigate and research anything you like and like everyone else you will come to your own conclusions and be free to adjust them as you learn more.
