  "Humility or Ability - Which does Jehovah prefer?"

  Well, we know he prefers zero real world qualifications and zero ability the two main criteria for appointment as an elder.

  Humility? Ironic considering you would think to be "appointed" a JW "Elder" with no actual qualifications would keep someone humble but actually it just creates delusions of power and greatness.

  Yeah, let's just say in JWspeak humilty = unquestioning, unreasoning, unthinking, absolute loyalty and obedience.

  IOW "Humility" = we say "jump" you ask "how high?"

  so in the october jw broadcast, there is a "morning worship" segment in which g. jackson goes to great lengths to explain how the term "those taking the lead" are not "leaders".. the terms are exactly equivalent, of course, but jackson, with a wink & smirk, pats himself on the back for his own cleverness on how different they really are.it's just so bizarrely absurd.. imagine if such tortured reasoning were applied to other areas..... -------------------------------------.

  restaurant manager: i'm sorry, the only position we have open is for dishwasher.

  applicant: that's insulting!

  marriage speaker said something which changed my life for the better, and it helps me even now.

  Any halfway useful illustration that was part of any JW talk I ever heard was usually stolen from pop psychology.

  Buy another telly= happy marriage seems very simplistic and a but of a downer for a wedding talk, more like a wedding tisk tisk. Hardly Yoda or Dr Phil.

  JW Rumor: End of the Traveling Overseer

  a friend of mine has contacts to a family with several circuit overseers and special pioneers.

  they have good connections to bethel.. he told me that the latest rumor from bethel states that the cos should be abolished in their present form.

  they have also recently begun to take cos back to bethel.. over the same channel i have already heard of the car fleet program and that the dos should be abolished.. has anyone else already heard of it?

  I imagine they will need to keep the COs on whilst they are in the throes of merging and downsizing since the CO is involved in the recommendation and co-ordinating of the merger and he is essentially the link betwen the congreagtions and the branch.

  It also makes sense that as congregation mergers continue resulting in fewer congregations, talks become videos and more things are done online they will need less COs. Since the CO arrangement is an expensive one I can see them finding an alternative in the future.

  Well whatever it was the sentiment is apt so whatever you are doing WT do it more quickly.

  "We've missed you at the meetings."

  The qualifer is "at the meetings."

  They can never just say "we miss you" that would imply they actually miss you unconditionally as a person and a friend. You are neither, you are a JW first and foremost a JW with obligations.

  They have to add "at the meetings" so you are reminded that there are conditions placed on this "friendship."

  my spies tell me that the jobos recently had a broadcast where 2 scriptures have been changed.. luke 22.26you, though, are not to be that way.

  but let the one who is the greatest among you become as the youngest, and the one taking the lead as the one ministering.. 1 tim 3:1this statement is trustworthy: if a man is reaching out to be an overseer,+ he is desirous of a fine work.

  Didn't Luke 22:26 use to say "... let the one who is greatest among you become as the least.."

  Now it's the "youngest" - encouraging younger men to reach out, possibly?

  Or maybe the GB don't want to be seen as the "least."

  the opening query is presented, loosely, in the past tense, assuming that you are not currently a reader of watchtower publications.. not that i'm already rather certain of your reply, it's just that i would like to know if in your english-speaking country (or esl [english as second language]) the society deigned to tailor the publications to your spellings, expressions, idiomatic renderings, etc.

  as you will read below, so-called american english is a dialect of english.. i found this online under american english vs. british english:.

  They also said "miilions now living will never die" history shows they have no shame with going back on things they have arrogantly pronounced.

  This is 2017 if you are going to survive as a religion/business you need to be comfortable appealing for money.

  If challenged on it the GB would just spin it like times have changed and now we need "a food pouch and money purse" scriptural basis blah blah.
