Yes it is a no-win situation for the bro's.

If you appear to be "reaching out" too obviously then you are viewed as ambitious,

and if you are the quiet achiever who doesn't want any recognition you are not being a "spiritual man".

There is no pleasing these people.

I heard of it being a requirement for all bethel newbies and missionaries.

Elders are probably encouraged to, but I don't think it is mandatory to qualify.

I am always amazed at just how little the average "Bible Student" (AKA JW) actually knows what's in the the Bible.

Im like "you remember the Bible don't you? It's the book you claim to be the authority on."

in the town where i live, it became customary some years ago for the pioneers to do the actual door-to-door work during the week, and their not-at-home records would provide the territory for the rank-and-file publishers on the weekends.

also, car groups of publishers would get an early start by driving around to the apartment complexes in their territory and leaving older issues of the magazines in the laundry rooms, a practice some called stealth witnessing.

many so-call publishers do nothing but stealth witnessing and wouldnt know how to actually talk to someone if they had to.

Hell yeah, there is a sister who drops off so many mags around the businesses in town

she needs two mini servants to carry them out to her car for her!

Needless to say there have indeed been complaints made by local business owners.
