So he went from being a fathead to a pinhead.
Interesting theory.

"Only Baptized Ones have Unrestricted Privilege of Prayer"
by BluesBrother ini was sitting at the recent circuit assembly that i attended, (the things i do for sis blues) and the baptism talk was under way .
i admit that my mind was more on my imminent packed lunch and flask of coffee but i distinctly heard the speaker make the statement that heads this thread and cite a wt reference.. you what !
i was shocked....... how can they possibly make such an arrogant statement ?

Geoffrey Jackson said it would be presumptuous to say the GB are the only ones who speak for God (or words to that effect) at the Australian Royal Commission.
But apparently it's not presumptuous of them to say who God does or doesn't listen to.

Seems odd that the Bible never mentions Pryamids?
by dropoffyourkeylee indoesn't it seem strange that the bible never mentions the pyramids?
how could someone go to egypt at that time and not even so much as mention the huge monuments?

Stuck - I think that was one of the pictures in the book of bible stories.

Good old Chuck Russell tried to address that oversight. He loved the pyramids, he was buried under one.
He probably had pyramid hats, pyramid jammies, pyramid coffee mugs etc etc.

I think the position of CO is way over the head of younger couples raised in the truth from a sheltered background. They are clueless when it comes to children, work, or any of the real problems people face.
Older converts that have experienced the real world make better COs but the job is very physically demanding for anyone over 40. Unless you're extremely fit, which, let's face it JWs are too busy to be physically fit.

It's official - JWs have least common sense of any religious group in US
by slimboyfat insome fascinating results in the latest pew research.
(how did i miss this before?
) including that jws rely on their religion the most of any group to tell right from wrong and rely on common sense the least.

There was a gang of older sisters at the cong I attended. They were really judgemental and gossipy, and had the elders in their pockets. They hated me -of course.

Disfellowshipping Sounds Wonderful to Me Now
by xjwsrock in2 people were read out last week as disfellowshipped.
of course now the announcement is read "so and so is no longer one of jehovahs witnesses".
they read that statement twice, once for each of the names.

How old are they?
Maybe, with congregations consolidating means circuits are shrinking and they don't need as many COs.
The older ones (over 40) would be the first to go, I imagine.

I Hate the Sound of the Word Jehovah
by cofty inlistening to clips of the latest manipulative video from the watchtower i realised how much i detest that word - jehovah.. sometimes i have thought it would be interesting to observe a meeting or part of a convention.
every time i heard that word i would be unable to stay in my seat.. i have a visceral reaction every time i hear it.
it stands for so much that i have contempt for.

Oh man, I am so glad to hear you say that, I do as well.
I always did, right from when I was studying all through being a witness I have had a gut reaction type of aversion to the name.
