Exactly! TV Screens are the most effective way of dispensing fear-based propoganda there is.
It's absolutely no surprise to me that the WT has become a broadcasting studio.
i came in during all the hype over 1975. the predictions about that date were the real driver behind all their activity.
since then, they haven't had a good goad to prod the sheep.
they seem to be smart enough not to try another date.. i think they plan to use fear instead.

it looks like i'm going to have to take the watchtower study for a while so i thought i'd seek help.. i wont be outing myself or stating anything too controversial, but so far i have come up with the following tactics : 1) ask questions which will get people thinking even if it is about something insignificant - developing a questioning mind is the key to discovering ttat as far as i am concerned.
2) highlight any extreme points so that some might realise they are extreme.
3) highlight any good points - helping others in need for example - just because it is the right thing to do.. if anyone has any general comments which could help, please post them here.
No matter what you say you're still serving kool-aid.
So you could ask
What flavour of kool-aid do you like brothers and sisters?
or
How did you enjoy your kool-aid this morning?
Or
Please, brothers and sisters only answer directly from the propoganda.
millie2105 hours agohere is something i just found out this week.former belief - field service is a publishers inalienable right new belief - field service privilege can be taken away if person styles hair or wears clothing in a way that is deemed metrosexual.i was pretty much dumbfounded.. this was posted on another thread, so i decided to start a new topic about this.
i think this is amazing!
i wish this was in place when i was a kid.
No, this not new but putting it in an official directive may be. Just thinking about this, if the elders can refuse you your participation in field service then are they by doing so accepting responsibility for FS being an official "church" activity. If FS is an official "church" activity then is the congregation and by extension WT legally liable for the actions and safety of the people that participate as representatives of the WT and the householders they call on?
WT better watch out they may be opening a can of worms.
every year in dozens of cities where conventions are being held, newspapers typically write an article about the event.
there are exceptions, but usually it is like the articles above.
i would love to see more newspaper articles that did some actual objective reporting, rather than puff pieces.
Why so glowing?
JWs are boring.
JW conventions are boring.
Most cities and towns advertise acts, performances, and conventions that come to town as a way of advertising the city or town.
first of all, i am not quite sure whether this is the right place to ask my questions.
if this is not really appropriate, please tell me in advance, but i really did not know who to turn to, so i thought why not ask the internet... now, i know many of you are apostates and i'm not really looking for "leave it all behind you" answers, but really for experiences, thoughts and ideas... as well as maybe some verses if you can think of any.. anyway, first things first.
since this is very anonymous and i'd like to keep it that way, i will not give you my name, but still, i think some background info might be helpful.

TeaBiscuit "Of course the organisation sees it differently"
You have answered your own question. The organization's opinion is the only one that matters.
JW message is quite simple you either agree with everything the GB says, give up your personal thoughts and feelings and your right to decide on your own personal matters or you don't. There is no negotiating or compromising with these people and their rules.

24 may 2016. russia: jehovah's witnesses face possible liquidation.
by victoria arnold, forum 18. if prosecutors proceed with their threat to liquidate the jehovah's witness headquarters near st petersburg, thousands of local congregations across russia could also face prohibition of their activities and individuals could be vulnerable to criminal charges for expressing their beliefs, forum 18 notes.. the jehovah's witnesses' principal body in russia is under threat of dissolution as an "extremist" organisation after the deadline in an official warning from the general prosecutor's office expired on 10 may, forum 18 notes.
I believe WT is against freedom of religion. You can't become a JW and decide to go along to the catholic church at the same time, yet I could decide to become catholic and go the KH at the same time.
WT are lying hypocrites and deserve what's coming to them from Governments that see through their "freedom of religion" bullshit.

You have a right to check, check and double-check everything you have been told. Most of it though is hidden in plain sight in the books you studied, either stated outright or implied. You would have have come across the scripture in the book of Deut 22:5 talking about men not dressing as women. You would have come across the scripture in Romans 9 that talks about fornicators and homosexuals not inheritng the kingdom.
You have probably been so seduced by the love-bombing that you didn't notice their obsession with the old testament rules and regulations. But, obsessed they are, and these people mean business. If, you decide to go against any of their rules once baptised you will be dealt with strongly - which usually means a withdrawal of all that lovely christian love - so no more love for you!
So you're absolutely right the time to question is now. And by god question everything especially the things that do not sit well with your conscience. Do not ignore your conscience it is trying to tell you something.
BTW, you do NOT need a large mega-rich organisation to believe in god or Jesus if you feel that is what you want.
In fact you do not need an organisation to do that at all, regardless of JWs insisting that you do.
Jesus supposedly came to sever the slavery to the harsh controlling religious leaders of the day and make faith a personal matter then why are JWs constantly harking back to old testament rules?
Just another thing to ask yourself and think about.
i was reading in another forum, that a letter to the elders instructed them to speak to anybody who persists in wearing tight pants.
if changes don't happen then the instructions are to disqualify him from being a publisher but it won't be announced to the congregation.
i am am curious to see if this letter will surface.
Yeah, I know it's a stick but, Boozerford looks like he's carrying a gun in that photo.
His motto was "Speak LOUDLY, spit alot, and carry a BIG-ASS STICK!"
