OLI - yeah, about a month is all it takes to get over the horrors and trauma of war. I believe I read that in a Psychology magazine. No, no, wait a minute, it was in a I am an Ignorant Dick magazine.

Introduction - Any Believers?
by Believer ini’ve been reading it for a few of years off and on, but have been a little too ... maybe ... timid to join.
i left the watchtower organization almost 20 years ago but never abandoned my faith and belief in god.
i knew the gb/organization didn’t represent god, so when i lost my faith in them, i managed to keep my faith in an all wise benevolent creator.

Who are the "Inactive"?
by thereishope inthis was my starting point in this journey of rediscovery, and i've made great strides, but here i am again asking the same question.
all this talk re the rc and the shunning of the inactive ones.
there is no announcement made obviously about "shun sister so-and-so, as she is inactive.

The Inactives are the second lowest of the castes with the Disfellowshipped being the lowest caste.
Inactives are allowed to converse with higher castes and sit with them during indoctrination sessions but higher castes like the Regulars may decide whether they wish to acknowledge the existence of the Inactives or not.

Cart "Witnessing"
by Funchback inbesides being a waste of time for those doing it, and being an easy way for the society to inflate its reports of time spent in the ministry, cart witnessing is also taking up space.
i live in a hot city in brazil.
today, the jws decided to set up their cart in the shady spot of the bus stop, where people going to work have to wait for the bus.. ugh!.

I have to ride past a cart on my bike every wednesday and the same old vinegar tits sister that persecuted me at the hall sits there pretending she doesn't see me. I thought of taking a longer alternative route, but then thought screw em I 'm not going to let them dictate my day.

More misleading content on JW.org
by Anders Andersen inwhat is “the end of the world”?the phrase “the end of the world,” which appears in many bible translations, can also be rendered as “the conclusion of the system of things,” or “the close of the age.” (matthew 24:3;english standard version) it refers, not to the destruction of the earth or of all humanity, but to the end of the framework of human society.—1 john 2:17.. conveniently leaving out that according to current numbers and doctrine, 8.000.000 people will survive at max.. technically is not a destruction of all humanity....but it comes so close it deserves to be mentioned.. of course it isn't mentioned, because that would sound so extreme, cultish and unkind.
we wouldn't want people to get the right ideas about jw.organization now, would we?.

If An Organization Really Believed It Had the Truth...
by xjwsrock in....it would not be scared of critics.
actually they would naturally take an offensive stance, wouldn't they?
they would welcome debate... even encourage it.

Printing presses, bye... bye...
by sp74bb inbye... bye.... no more new printing presses for jw.org... the growth is so tremendous (irony...).. all printing work in europe will be arrange in the next month only in selters (germany), but no renovation or upgrading in printing presses is expected... it will be a full outsourcing :).
a worldly company axel s******* will be used.
this company is known to be printing bild newspaper... the interesting part of it is the logistics will be as well outsourced.

What will this set a precedent for I wonder. Outside cleaning contracts? Building companies?
If they can start outsourcing the printing which was like the holiest of WT's prized sacred cows and proof of holy spirit then they can outsource anything.

Didn't the apostles supposedly actively seek debate then why wouldn't the GB?
The answer as you say is obvious if they encourged genuine questions and intelligent debate it would quickly become obvious that their whole belief system is a house of cards, a row of unstable dominos unprotected from even a gentle breeze of facts, reasoning and logic.

Cult memories extinguish good memories
by rebel8 ini have this thing.
i don't know why it is or how to stop it.
every time i happen to daydream about something positive from my childhood, some related cult aspect comes to mind and extinguishes it like a candle is being blown out.. for a while, i thought this was anger and resentment causing me to want to find an excuse to be angry (not that i need one).

There is no doubt WT leaves a very sour aftertaste that flavors even the nice memories. I have dealt with it by reminding myself that all the other people in my memories were indoctrinated and as such acted as their indoctrinated selves. We were all "under a spell" thankfully I woke up from the spell they did not.
I ask myself would this person have acted the same way if their mind was there own, and they were free to be themselves. I may never know, but the exercise provides me with distance between the person and how they acted and that it probably wasn't personal it's just what cult indoctrinated people do.
