  When 2 JWs have the same call...

  as i was driving past a certain gas station today, i recalled that the family who own it are called on by a friend of mine, and in a territory where it's hard to find interest.

  it reminded me of an incident months back when this friend, brother d, discovered that another friend, brother b, was calling on that family too.

  hey, gotta make your time.. those two went at it.

  With a large geographical area and a small population territory the competition over RV's was fierce and call poaching was common. The cong had three middle aged non- working, no-kid lady pioneers who felt all interest belonged to them by default because of their pioneer status. Plus the COBE's wife who thought the same thing.

  If a householder told them another witness called they would interogate to find out gender, age, what they looked like, how often they called how long etc and then walk up to that piblisher at the next meeting and say something like

  "You call on so and so?"

  "Why, yes I have been calli....."

  "Well you can stop because that's my call." Marches off to continue conversation with the groupies who have been watching the exchange from the other side of the hall.

  several months ago i approached a nice young couple who were standing by a jw literature stand in my local community.

  they were pleasant and polite but incredibly stilted when it came to answering my "innocent" questions about their beliefs.

  this was the occasion of jws featuring the article headlined "is religion dying?".

  That stare into the middle distance you observed is caled the lights are on but nobody's home look.

  Warwick and transport to meetings

  i would imagine that most brooklyn bethelites attended congo meetings via subway.. how do they manage transport from warwick?.

  It would make sense for them to conduct the meetings at Warwick and I fully expect them to do so in the future.

  Why would they build a massive compound and not include a meeting hall.

  With Big Brother now on screen they don't even need a hall.

  i hope to make a decision within days and plan to publish within weeks.. it has now been 50 weeks since that statement.. has the book been published yet?

  Mike and Kim have been silent on the subject for a while now and they were the ones who were in contact with copyright holder. Something seems off to me, but it's a waiting game ultimately, that's what ownership is after all you can choose to publish or you can choose to sit on it and do nothing.

  I wonder if WT would ever make an offer to obtain the rights (god knows they have the theocratic warfare mentality and the $$$) and then leave them in a vault somewhere forever with any other copies they have hoovered up off e-bay.

  Personally, I wouldn't put it past them.

  It's not unusual for photos at travel sites and tourist advertisements to be cropped and tweeked with stuff like street signs and graffiti left out etc etc. No surprise if WT uses same techniques to maximize the fairytale witness life effect.

  I get the watchtower logo being displayed on an external wall somewhere as a nod to the magazine that made them recognizable but why do they need a literal watchtower, what use would it serve?

  Maybe they made a "note to self" after the Waco incident.
