Where We Jews (and Religionists) Have Not Been So Forthcoming
by David_Jay inbecause i feel some people have become confused in thinking that i am promoting religion or thinking that being jewish is some type of special gift that makes me better, i am writing to tell you that i don’t feel this way.
think of this as your christmas gift (or chanukah or festivus or whatever).. despite the fact that i too practice a religion, i also think atheism is a purposeful and noble use of the mind.
too often people with a religion have only bad things to say about atheism and atheists.

"We theists" " fellow religionists" "us" you use terms of inclusion then say "IM NOT WITH THEM." Very curious.
If you feel the need to explain your own faith and position fair enough I spose if explaining yourself to virtual strangers is your thing, but why are you speaking for others? Some "religionists" are not sorry.
I don't mean to offend you DJ I think you are rather sweet but, your insecurities and your arrogance puzzles me.

How much would we really know about how they live.?All we know is what they allow us to know. This organization is obscene in their love of money while telling their members to earn minimum wage and live "simply."
And, not one dollar of it goes towards giving back to humanity.

WT Quote: Is It Wrong to Change Religions?
by Sanchy inis it wrong to change religions?w59 5/15 305-307 (bold mine):.
chances are you did not choose the religion you profess but you inherited it from your parents.
comparatively few persons actually make their own choice of a form of worship.

I always found it hugely hypocritical even while in that JWs actively go out and lure people to denounce, leave and generally hate on their own religion and become JWs with bait and switch promises of the true-est, bestest ,most happiest, smartest, lovingest religion EVER!
Then turn around and print articles like these, un-fricken-believable!

I feel really, really sorry for those born into the Jehovah's Witness religion
by jambon1 insome facts that make the difference between you and me:.
1 - as a person raised by non jw family, my parents have never loved me based on conditions set out by a group of old men who they don't even know.
how does it feel to know that you are in the unique situation where your parents brought you into the world and said 'i'll show love to you.

I don't feel sorry for born-ins anymore than any other person who has had a shitty childhood (and let's face it who hasn't got atleast one butthurt story from childhood) for whatever reason. To be honest some ex-jws don't need anymore reason to feel sorry for themselves.
I think in the grand scheme of things as long there wasn't physical or sexual abuse then things could have been better and things certainly could have been worse.
The good news is once you become an adult you are responsible for yourself and your own health and happiness.

The disappearance of the Special Committees
by Hecce inas a part of the wt judicial arrangement, for many years there was a sort of review procedure called special committee; basically if a person was not happy with a decision or a particular situation they were allowed to write a letter to the society raisin their concerns.. the majority of these complaints were answered with a standard letter with the counsel of “leave matters to jehovah”.
in some instances the matter was serious enough to warrant the need for a special investigation of the case to be done by a special committee.. at one time the travelling overseers were part of this arrangement; eventually they were dropped out of these cases due to the fact of their tremendous input on the decisions and also the implications when a wrong decision was reached.. the reason behind this procedure was that in matters that were really complicated it was not fair to make a decision based in letters and the clearest way was to have “boots on the ground”.
normally a group of local brothers, appointed for this duty heard the cases and make recommendations to the branch.

Thanks for the clarification James Jack.
In true WT style anyone who "appeals" a decision is automatically proven to have a bad attitude.

Jesus not perfect and here's why.
by Crazyguy inthe bible is a inspired book of god and like and elder told me when i was young , there's no contradictions in the bible and all the prophecies have come true except the two or three that are supposed to come true in the future.
so with that said the messiah jesus christ himself must not be perfect and here's why.
in mark chapter 2 jesus is telling his followers that it's ok to pick wheat on the sabbath and mentions the story about david eating bread that was in the holy place ment only for the priests to use.

Ahimelech was the father of Abiatha also a priest why the confusion in Mark's account?
Maybe Mark misquoted since he was the one telling the story of a story of a story? (As Finkie said)
Maybe sons and father's names were interchangable back in the day?
Maybe father and son priest combo served together?
Maybe the name of the high priest wasn't the point of the allegorical story and not to be nit-picky about the sabbath was the point of the story? Keyword being story.
