Are JWs "mind trained" to be habitual liars?

i don't mean overly obvious, or otherwise meaning to cause harm, but taught to lie for the purpose of avoidance.

this type of lying can be pervasive in areas of life that are not just to avoid discussions with people who have questions about the jw, etc.

my husband will lie/be deceitful about the silliest, simple things.

Yes, they are trained to re-frame situations, articles, rules, bible accounts, their own motives and intentions to the point that to a non-indoctrinated mind it would appear they are either very stupid or very dishonest, when they are actually programmed, programmed to re-frame.

Freedom to have and express thoughts and feelings are not allowed as a witness so what do you do with those normal human functions? You pretend they don't exist and lie if someone catches you with an unapproved thought or feeling.

So much so, that it eventually becomes natural to do so even about stuff that doesn't matter.

Survival as a JW relies upon your ability to suppress and/or reframe any undersirable unapproved thought such as doubt

Because as we all know doubt is the gateway sin to the worst sin ever -apostatsy!

Watchtower bible used as a prop in a R rated movie

it was a wtf moment .

the movie is on netflix called american violence.. it was a non block buster hit.

any way the time stamp is 1: 38: 42. if anyone is interested.

I spotted it too greenhornet, real WTF moment.

Felt it was a strange gratuitious close up of a new world translation when normally a KJ version would be used as the most commonly recognized bible. Wondered if there was a JW in the production crew? Very odd.

What does it take to qualify for cart/trolley work?

if memory serves me, when it was first introduced elders had to fill out a form to grade a jw, and only those who made the grade could do the carts.. i didn’t realize until sir82 said something on another discussion that the process had changed.. what is the process nowadays?

this weekend thousands of people are gathering at the scheels arena in celebration of their faith.. jehovah's witnesses from around the world are assembling for the "don't give up" convention.. .

the morning starts with a music presentation and then continues on through the day with prayer, song, and speeches.. the theme centers around supporting each other and including everyone in the good will.. everyone is invited and all questions regarding jehovah's witnesses are welcome.. really?

Yes, religion "socially controls" by way of rules and punishments and reinforces those rules with manipulative words and imagery.

If you want to prove the point to someone just ask them to accompany you as you take some outside research on any subject that JWs believe to any JW and ask them about it. Better yet take outside research to the hall and watch what happens when you try to use it in a comment.

Wt are smart enough to to never say "never do this" or "don't ever do that" so newer literature will be ambiguous and general, making it difficult to prove outright.

Subliminal images - why and who are the individuals behind it?

i remember about 5 years ago reading on another site about subliminal images in wt literature.

i honestly thought it a load of bs until i checked out one glaringly obvious image of a creepy skull in clouds within the knowledge book.

i was shocked and even showed my wife at the time who thought it was creepy.. so my question is why?

WT are not smart enough to employ manipulative psychological tactics in their literature via overt and covert images and text ???

Hmmm, let's see now.

7mil+ multi generational membership.

Multibillion dollar publishing house/real estate business/pseudo charity/"christian" religion and assorted side businesses.

All this ^^^ in spite of

over a century of numerous failed prohecies

rules so harsh that people at best waste their lives at worst die or let their child die, or go to jail for this religion

WT like any successful business that has longevity IS that smart.
