nothing big here, just a little musing on this scripture at ephesians 2.8-9 that definately states that only faith saves, not works, in case men start to boast about their amazing works.
"8for by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of god, 9not of works, that no one would boast.
well my word, i would definately say witnesses *do nothing but boast*, especially now on jw broadcast.

has anyone noticed this new song?
i think it's absolutely beautiful.
it's got a film score quality about it, with depth and feeling.
Exactly Cofty!
i hate to say this, but given my own experience as a jw for almost 3 decades, i am beginning to believe the average jw will continue to look to and be guided by the gb regardless of whether they are right or wrong.. despite all the scandals and negative media attention the watchtower organisation is receiving, life seems to go on as normal in jw land.
it's truly bizarre!!.
clearly, the gbs tactic of mostly hiding away from the media is clearly working for them.

How ironic that the people in the emotion milking montage of news footage will be lovingly destroyed by the singer's God at armaggeddon.
i am translating jwfacts to spanish.
i am doing the "statistics" section.here are two graphs that show that the statistics have never been worse for the watchtower:quantity of hours required for 1 baptism: note how low it went in 1974-1975, and note that 2016 is much higher than the slump of 1978... about double, to be exact.
2016 was a historical record in this statistic (higher is worse for watchtower).. this stat is the baptisms as a percentage of the publisher average.
I just mean that organized religion as we have known it as physical bricks and mortar buildings that people go to worship in, is dying in the arse. Internet religions, websites and you tube channels dedicated to popular religious leaders, sermons, dvds, books etc where you can get your daily dose of your fave preacher whenever and wherever you like is possibly the way of the future for religion, and I suspect WT has cottoned on to this.
Of course, I'm in no way attached to being right about this, I could be wrong, I'm just speculating.
this poor girl was baptized at 9yo.
.
she isnt old enough to buy alcohol, to vote, to decide her own medical treatment, to buy a pet, to travel alone... yet she was deemed old enough to dedicate her life to a religion that will cut her off from her family if she ever leaves.. here she is applauded for shunning her own sister who tried to keep in contact with her after waking up.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0yzgnfda8ki.
If anyone out there has never met a horrible JW you just haven't gotten to know one well enough yet.
JWs are not a religion of love.

The internet may aid in the destruction of the borg as we knew it, but, it will also likely be the thing that will "pheonix" it into the future as well.
what simple pleasures do you enjoy since leaving watchtower?
here's some of mine, in no particular order:.
a cigar: i dont smoke cigarettes at all, but i do enjoy a good cigar from time to time.
Oh wow, I had so many books, movies and current affairs to catch up on. All the stuff other witnesses would judge as "wasting time." Gardening, riding my bicycle, art, music, books etc. I have also enjoyed going along to listen to talks lectures etc on all sorts of subjects.
i have noticed, from reading posts on this and other related websites, what to me is an alarming practice taking place within the jw's.
and that is the baptism of kids.. on a recent discussion posted by pe ( video of the girl now forced to shun her sister) this child was baptised at 9 years old.
all of us who were baptised at a much older age know of the many questions one needs to give serious consideration and understanding of to become eligible for baptism, not to mention the two baptism questions asked before being dunked.. surely the organisation must know that children of such a young age are not mature enough to fully grasp the seriousness, demands and consequences of making such a decision.. another point; if jesus is the example to follow, then why did he only get baptised at age 30, and he was perfect!.
Steve2 - quote "Give me a child until he is seven and I will show you the man."
I thought that was Aristotle and adopted by the Jesuits?
But the principle is one WT follows for sure as there is a similar idea in... proverbs? Something about "Train up a boy according to his way and he will not depart from it."
no doubt this point has been made before but i see no harm in emphasising it.
my family heard on the grapevine that "the society" had people who used to animate for disney.
well , if that is true , it certainly shows.
Actualy Moana looks more warm and life-like while Sophia looks like most JWs - cold, flat and one dimensional.
