I can see them rolling out the "suggestion" 😉 in places like Nigeria first to see how it flies, then elsewhere if it proves successful.

Paradise? Was it?
by TerryWalstrom inparadisewas it really paradise to be in paradise?adam and eve never were held by a mother, never cuddled and sung to with a lullaby nor nursed or coddled with tenderness or any human familial embrace.
the first humans (adam and eve) never learned to toddle surrounded by brothers, sisters, aunts and uncles and grandparents cheering them on.
the entire experience of childhood was excised surgically like a trauma patient awakening from an accident with amnesia.adam and eve were never in a neighborhood with other kids forming friendship bonds for life and exchanging dreams and hopes for a future they were building in their community.

Your god seems pretty fickle who he helps and who he ignores.
Mysterious and all.

Bloody hell! They may actually start a "suggested" tithing program without having an "official" tithing program.
Sneaky bastards!

Who has a harder time leaving JW's - Born Ins or those who converted?
by HeyLittleGirl inmy freind (who is also out) and i were talking about this the other night.
i was a born-in, 3rd generation jw and she converted when she was in her late 20's.. when she left, she said that she knew the world wasn't as bad as she was told as a jw, so she knew she would be fine.
also, she still had lots of "worldly" family who welcomed her back with open arms.. it was harder for me - i had nobody in the "world", no family or freinds.

We all have our cult injuries but I left my victim mentality back at the KH. -

Welcome HS.
You said you wanted to share this info but you didn't say why you wanted to share, or, maybe you're getting to that?
Ooh, it's in the title "pinpoint future events." Gotcha.

Diogen's anecdote reminded me of a elder brother whose anxiety was so severe he couldn't talk socially to anybody, he would give parts and public talks but don't ever say hello to him.
Another ekder brother who had bipolar and he would be manic and paranoid one meeting and sat in the back room in the dark the next.
Now, I don't have a problem with people in postions of authority who also suffer with mental health issues that's not my point my point is these men sat in judgement of others made decisions that affected other peoples lives and their mental health conditions definitely affected how that judgement was made, depending on what mood they were in that day.
Interesting to note these men were appointed after their diagnosis. Real scratch the head moment at those announcements I can tell you.

January 2018 Study Watchtower - if only J.W.'s knew the truth!
by The Fall Guy inpage 19, paragraph 12: "with prayerful consideration, the governing body strives to be faithful and discreet with regard to how the organization’s funds are used.".
yeah, i "prayed" too - that more and more j.w.
's would discover that millions of dollars of their hard-earned cash were being misused to shut the mouths of j.w.

A donation to the "worldwide work" is pretty general amd vague when you think about it, could mean anything.
Could mean the worldwide keeping WT's ass afloat work. At the end of the day how much does anyone know what specifically happens to their charity dollars.

Yes and no.
Yes I was shocked when some "unspiritual" brother was chosen by the obviously blind holy spirit.
No I wasn't shocked because the main criteria for appointment appeared to be "do we like him" and "who are they related to."
Nepotism and favouritism was rife in every cong I was ever in.
I would also add "is he a successful business man or professional" to that list of criteria because that seemed to impress most elders also.

AGM - Are they now teaching predestination?
by Doubting Bro inanother agm thought.
in tight pants tony's part, he mentioned several times that jehovah draws those he chooses and only those rightly disposed would come in.
and individuals that liked the literature but made no progress towards becoming jw were a "waste of time".. was he setting the stage for them introducing the thought of predestination?
