I had breakfast with 50+ JWs on Sunday
by zimunzucz inwe pulled into a hotel parking lot saturday around 6pm on the return leg of a wonderful family vacation to new england - an then fate stepped in---a man in a suit got out of a car with the rest of a picture perfect family.
i immediately noticed all the name tags--- and my blood pressure spiked 50pts- damn!!
i was booked in a 4 story hotel full of jws-- the only time they took off the name tags was in the swimming pool- they were so proud of themselves.. at 6:30 am the hot water went cold in the wife's shower- what do you expect on the 4th floor when a herd of jws is trying to get ready at the same time?

Yes- I had my fill of JWs this year. Thank you for the kind words of encouragement.
While I was on vacation, I stopped to visit a friend up north who is dealing with an adult daughter who has gone over to the the JWs. It became obvious to me, she is in it for the social aspect, as any negative facts he tries to share with her go nowhere. She has learned to employ the standard WT though stopping tactic=, I didn't come over here to argue about religion" ,to weasel out of an honest dialogue with her father.
Plus, for some reason they have really been hitting my neighborhood, like 3 times in 6 months. Before that it was one time very couple years. They have never talked to me at my house, but I would come home to the tract in the door. So, I would go for a walk with the dog and find them close by. Stop and chat with them. They would love to get away from me, but I just walk down the sidewalk with them and talk away.
"Would you like to see my original 1920 WatchTower? I can go get it. It's really great. It has a cross on the cover. The main article is the brand new truth from Bethel, "millions now living will never die". Except they all did. That was the 1914 generation. I'll bet JWs don't believe that generation is still alive-- do they? Only a dope would believe that, right? Have you ever looked up "Beth Sarim" on the Internet-- that's the big mansion the WT built for Abraham, David and all the ancient worthies who were getting resurrected any day, right after Armageddon. Can you believe the stupidity of the WT, they even made the deed out to them!
Gab, Gab, I just get on a roll-after a minute I'm the only one talking, haha. I won't let them change the subject to something in their comfort zone-- no sirree. How long you been a JW? Over 60 years! Wow, then you remember the "stay alive until 1975" hoopla, don't you? You don't? Now don't be joshing me, I know better, I heard it myself. Look up Charles Sinutko on the Internet-- he gave a talk at a WT assembly in 1969 and used those very words. I even called him up personally one time- he never denied saying that. He spent over 70 years pulling the plow for the Watchtower-- and today he lives in a trailer park-- some retirement- right?
Well, by the time they get back to their car, they are a basket case from the can of whoop ass I unloaded on them. I'm not mean about it, just concerned for their life. If there is an elder type in the car, well, I am not so nice to them. They get the 1914-2014 treatment and more-- as Mr Elder puts the car in gear and makes a quick getaway for a the KH-- service time is over.
Well, I see my 2 hour upgrade to Windows 10 on my laptop is finished-- time to see how it works

Tsongas Center Lowell MA, Sunday Session of the Regional Convention 2015
by oppostate inwe're breaking up the regional convention event by going each of the days to a different weekend session.. the tsongas center lowell ma was a bit hard to find, we got lost and got there after the first song and prayer (just in time for the first talk)!
we ran into so many from our home congregation who aren't even assigned to this rc!.
i think it's quite common for publishers now to break up the convention weekend and attend at times when their congregation isn't assigned.. some families (3) were attending this particular convention so as to meet up with family members who are in another part of the region.

I can see singles going on different days, in order to meet other singles. Also many more people are working part time jobs now. They may only be able to get off only one weekend day at a time each week- not 2 in a row.
I have a sick feeling just thinking about the 5 day summer assemblies from the days of yore- back when they still had a full meal service for the brothers.- Those outdoor assemblies in 95+ degree degree ballparks were good for you. Sitting and standing in line with 30,000 sweaty JWs built up appreciation for the new system of things.

Are atheists more likely to be morally good than Christians?
by FusionTheism ini have no problem saying atheists and christians are equal.. but some people seem to have the belief that atheists are more likely to be morally good, or more likely to change the world for good, than christians and theists.. but what evidence do you have to support this claim?.
if atheism is what causes people to do great positive things for the world, then why weren't martin luther king, jr., william wilberforce, isaac newton, francis collins, barack obama, mother theresa, abraham lincoln, or john f. kennedy atheists?.

In some ways, religion has created it's own problem. The religion that is most active in supporting food pantries and homeless shelters will positively draw the homeless into that area, which could encourage people to avoid working for their daily bread and seek free handouts instead. A society that only distributes help based on true need, rather than blanket "feel good" charity is probably better for society.

I got off the elevator and 2 Hispanic women were waiting- I asked the younger one if she spoke English- she did. I used the same special talk 1914-2014 line- she had a puzzled look-
I repeated 1914 to 2014 , it's been a hundred years and nothing has happened yet. I had to literally explain what the WT said was going to happen in 1914 and how they have been predicting the end was just another generation away for 100 years, Finally, I could see the light bulb light up in her eyes. She turned to the older woman (her mother?) and translated everything I had said back to her.It was obvious she didn't know anything about WT history.
"Look it up on the Internet"- then other JWs showed up, so I left.
One of the teens I gave the paper to was sitting at the breakfast table next to us with a girl looked to be in her early 20's- that girl was telling another JW brother about a guy from Cleveland who was driving down to this assembly in TN to meet her that morning. The younger girl looked to be around 15-16 and she was just looking at her smartphone. I ran into her in the hall later and gave her one of the slips- "don't let anyone see this- this is your freedom". She wasn't offended, looked at it and said , thanks.
These two girls appeared to be Hispanic as did about 50% of the JWs at that hotel.
For a long time now, I have seen that JWs are craving one thing the most from the public, R-E-S-P-E-C-T.
So it's a bummer when they get a wake up call as to how the public really views their religion.

I rode the elevator a few times with a full car of JWs- they heard me tell them about the "special 1914-2014 talk", too. They just silently hung their heads. On my final trip back up to the 4th floor, I was standing next to a handsome lad almost 6ft tall.
How old are you?
"I'm 12".
How long have you been going to the KH?
"a couple years."
He gets off at at the next floor by himself and I step off with him. I talk to him for a minute and share some "WT secrets"- he looks very interested. I pull out my notepad and write down the 2 website addresses and he eagerly takes them.
I leave him with this warning-- "don't ever let them talk you into getting baptized. You can be anything you want to be."
He had a smile on his face as I got back on the elevator.

Damn!! I was booked in a 4 story hotel full of JWs-- The only time they took off the name tags was in the swimming pool- they were so proud of themselves. At 6:30 AM the hot water went cold in the wife's shower- what do you expect on the 4th floor when a herd of JWs is trying to get ready at the same time? Finding a seat at breakfast was impossible, as JWs were filling every seat, so we took our plates to the banquet room next door, but in short order the JWs were all around us-- yak, yak, yak about the assembly.
We ate and went back to the room to finish packing. I sat down and thought about the surreal scene downstairs that would have included me 30 plus years ago. I knew what I had to do, so I did it. I went downstairs and left the wife and daughter to finish getting ready. I walked into the dining room and gazed at the new faces in the dining room- young couples, singles , teens and retired faces with white hair.
I filled up a cup with OJ and made the rounds of the dining room, like a nightclub comedian.
The retired bro and his wife, (who was likely an elder) was first.
"Are you having a special talk today?"
"yes we are", he smiled
" I'll bet I know what it is- pause- It's called, 1914-2014, 100 years and nothing has happened , yet"
His smile turned into a smirk with tight lips an a furrowed brow- "well it's not funny, but you are funny, in a sad way. You've wasted your entire life following failed WT promises and guess what? You will die just like every other human being- you won't cheat death, there is no new order, only death for JWs." What do you expect from an organization that has been wrong for 100 years?
I walked around to other tables-
Question- "Is it true that JWs shun family and friends who decide to leave the KH?" They shake their heads, but avert their eyes.
"Well, I know you are lying about that. Is that the only way you can get someone to join your religion is by lying to them?-- isn't Satan the father of the lie?" They won't look at me, out of fear I will go up to them next.
Hey- bro, look up the May 15-1984 WT- google the image, it says, 1914, the generation that will not pass away"- everyone on that cover is now DEAD- the WT was wrong again.
5 minutes seems like an hour-- I suppose 50 JWs heard me in that dining room.
I leave and go outside- find a bro on the roof of the car roping down his luggage.
He is trapped- I work him over real good, as other JWs watch in silence. I do the 1914-2014 number on him, too.
Question- yes or no, " will a blood transfusion save the life of a starving man?" He balks for he knows I have set a trap- YES or NO? Finally, he answers, no.
"That's right- blood is food only when you eat it and you have just admitted that a blood transfusion is not food, so it does not fall under the Bible's ban to not eat blood." The WT is killing people over a false no-blood doctrine.
1975, 1984's, the generation that will never pass away, WT cover, I slammed all the WT failures and encouraged him to face up to the truth and leave the KH- don't waste another 20 years following liars.
Nobody in the parking lot came to his rescue, as I beat him up-
I left and went to the desk and got a notepad and pen.
I wrote two things on a half dozen pieces of paper, jwfactsdotcom and the address for this website.
I picked out random teens to hand them to-- " look this up tonight- this is your freedom, don't lose it" They looked at it and nodded. I hope one of those kids makes it out.
I felt better and hope the JWs who heard me, thought about, 1914-2014 and nothing has happened , yet, during their Sunday indoctrination talks.
I am home now after 800 miles of driving and decided to post this while it is fresh in my memory.

Jehovah Witnesses accept 2000 year old Scripture , yet reject writings of C.T.Russell the founder of the religion.of 136 years ago.?
by smiddy inis not this ironic ?
that they can claim to believe something that was written 2000 years ago and base their life and some cases their death on it , yet disown writings of the modern day founders of their religion such as c.t.russell , the so called first president of the i.b.s.a.
, later re-named jehovah witness.. and the same fate awaits the so called second president of now re-named jehovah witnesses ,if the writings ,books ,tracts ,etc .still exist in the library you sooner or later will be quizzed as to why you want to read them , it will be discouraged , and if you persist you will be brought before the elders .. so what are they afraid of people learning ?
-
zimunzucz
I think that, "ignore", is what JWs do in regards to the old writings of Russell.
I had a field day last year humiliating JWs-
Are you having your special WT anniversary talk this Sunday?
No, what talk?
You know, the , " 1914-2014, 100 years and nothing has happened yet", special talk!
hahahahah One elder I talked to on the phone at the KH for 30 minutes actually let me call him stupid and he all but admitted he was dumb for "hanging in there"- it was all he knows- the KH way.

New forum: one month progress report
by Simon inwell, we survived the first month at least!
yes, the new forum is now 1 month old.. of course there have been some issues and i'm grateful that people have been patient while i worked on them.
a big thank-you to everyone who's been patient, have provided useful feedback or just been willing to adapt to something new during the transition.. i've also made some improvements along the way and am fairly happy with how things are from a basic functionality and performance perspective so it's time to start looking at some of the new features i've been planning.
