JW have shown themselves to be blockheads when it comes to deciphering the faithful slave's "meat in die season"- types, anti-types, greater, lesser-- they used to say, well, only the anointed can understand today' s 'Tower and then everyone in the group would smile and nod their heads- except the end of 6000 years of human existence and the date -1975 on chart in the "freedom" book, now all the JWs knew what the hidden meaning was in that book!

Is it necessary to prepare for the Watchtower or book study?
by BashfulAshG inall of my years in the truth, i never understood why we had to study before each meeting.
the contents are self-explanatory with the answers to the printed question within the first or the last sentence of the paragraph.
then, commenting never made sense, especially comments and experiences that don't answer the printed question.

Where Is The Jehovah's Witness Zeal?
by minimus init seems to me that the religion is nearly dead.
or dying.
very little pulse exists for the organization.

Well, I'm not sure how Minimus knows what JWs are doing, but JWs are still talking, but doing less canvassing, IMO- who wants to do cold calls and have to explain WT mistakes?
I ran into 2 Hispanic men every other day just before 7am at the 7-11 a few months ago. The tip off was when I saw the older one talking to a guy pumping gas and holding up a medium size tract-- aha- It was still dark, so if your weren't looking for them, you didn't see them.
So I walked around to the side and just as I expected, I spies a younger JW- 18-20 sitting in the car. I give him an earful- then the other JW comes back and he gets it to. My guess is they were doing their service time the easy way in April for the special easy pioneer rope-a-dope campaign- is it 30 hrs? They were taking turns so as to not get worn out- haha- but counting the full time, I suppose.
They would hunker down in the seat when they saw me-too late- - I even left home 10 minutes early before work so I could talk to them. yes, I set them up several times just so they could lie to me. They just don't care if they get caught lying about shunning, dates, etc- nope, they just shrug their shoulders and ignore they are liars. The younger one had a chance- maybe he looked up beth sarim and the websites I mentioned-- They lasted a week and half- I was amazed they took that many days of punishment from me.

WT October 15, 2015 - Don't believe Apostate Lies
by Designer Stubble inthe last article in this new wt, shows me that the organization is dealing with much information that is damaging them.
i am sure that the many recent lawsuits are being noticed by the r&f.. here are some gems from that article, titled the naive person believes every word.
we must be very selective about what we consider worthy of our attention.

JWs always lie about blood transfusions- I can bury them every time on that teaching -

Need to Vent: Well this weekend is a wash, 3 days of my life i will not get back and wife is slipping in to cult mode
by goingthruthemotions inyep, the cult fest is upon us....3 days of my life i will not get back....ughhhhhhhh.
and my wife has been slipping in to cult mode the last 2 days.....you know the look.
almost like a glazed over look with a side of guilt and a side of narrow mindedness.

People have the right to personal opinions and spouses (like you) are people. Use first person to express how you are unhappy, like.
It makes me feel bad when the organization won't admit they were wrong about a teaching. It's not my job to explain away their mistake to the public.
I get depressed thinking about the JW woman who refused life saving medical care and her unborn baby died, then she died later, too. A blood transfusion won't save the life of a starving man, so I know it has nothing to do with the Bible teaching to "not eat blood".
I get depressed when I see the churches helping the homeless and hungry, but our KH won't even collect food for the local food pantry. If I ask the elders to set up a food drive in the KH to help the local poor, they will think I am weird.
Well, I can't explain the 1914 date to anyone- what if the householder asks me to explain 100 years and nothing has happened , yet? I'll look stupid trying, well maybe I am the dumb one.
We build scads of quick build KH's, but never once do we help our community to build a habitat for humanity house. it's not wonder the public sees JWs as losers. I don't blame our neighbors for thinking JWs are unloving and strange people.
I heard a joke today- two JW's and two Mormons meet at a sidewalk- the JW says, "we don't move for false prophets". The Mormons reply, " But, we do" and they go around the JW's. A householder once told me that JWs said, "stay alive until 1975"- I told her she was mistaken, but I recently looked it up and it was a common phrase that JWs used back then- except after 1975, they didn't remember saying it.
I am feeling torn up inside about service. If a householder asked you, if it was true what they heard about JWs shuning former members, even their won adult children who leave the KH, would you tell them the truth, yes, or lie about it? If we tell the truth, then nobody will want to become a JW, if we lie about it- isn't that wrong? Isn't Satan called the father of the lie? Lets make a promise- to always tell the truth whenever a worldly person asks us a question- OK?
Anyway,
If your wife has no sympathy for your unhappiness, then I am sorry for your plight.
Like I said, people have a right to be a JW and can believe the WT doctrines. I would advise you to begin considering a marvel approach with your wife- Tell The Truth.
No human being can go through life living a lie and if your wife won't allow you to live a normal life as a man free of the WT religion, then so be it. Better to be free than a doormat for the the JWs.

Strange Moment During The 2015 Regional Convention
by JW_Rogue inhi, i'm new here but hadn't seen this mentioned anywhere yet.
during the "imitate jesus" rc there was a strange moment where they played a video of a brother trying to explain the 1914 teaching.
the brother quickly goes through all the scriptural "proofs" and the householder is dumbfounded.

It's going to be hard for JWs to live down 1914-2014= a 100 years of WT stupidity. So, rather than take their lumps and quit they dig their heels in and double down the bet that Armageddon just has to be even closer than it was last year.

Last year I called up a few KH's, usually on Saturday morning- I wanted to see what they thought.
ring ring- hello
"Are you having your special WT anniversary talk this Sunday?"
"We're having a talk, but I don't know anything about the anniversary talk"
"You haven't heard about it yet?"
"No, what is it?"
"It's called, 1914 to 2014, JWs celebrate 100 years and nothing has happened, yet"- haha"
Surprisingly, several elder types tried to do damage control with me, but ended up in deep doodoo, instead. One elder whined, "I'll bet you think I'm stupid" - well, what do you think a smart person would do when the WT changed the 1914 generation again?-
So yes, JWs are embarrassed about 1914-2014 and they hope the householder doesn't remind them about their special anniversary.

The Confederate Flag
by Simon inthe latest controversy over the confederate flag just sums up to me the state of dysfunction that exists in american society.. in summary: a white supremacist nutter shoots 9 black people dead in a church.
he's clearly inspired by the messages of others which the confederate flag is often a symbol of.. it seems like a no-brainer to remove it.
not only isn't it removed, it isn't even lowered at all as a mark of respect.. and of course now there are the people who want to defend their right to have it.

The "knock out game" was a myth.
I don't care if you personally want to believe that, but anecdotal and video evidence from these unprovoked black on white attacks shows otherwise. Anyone who does diligent research for an hour can find out for themselves that this "game" is true. Blacks brag about their KO's and post videos all the time among themselves. Self-hating whites need to educate themselves. The death toll from this game is escalating, but we have a DOJ that prefers to keep it out of the news media, rather than publicly address this as a hate crime and muster federal resources to stop it.

Ice cores from Greenland glaciers are 100's of thousands of years old- and perhaps easier to understand,
is the sediment cores bored out of bottom of arctic lakes in Alaska- they show seasonal lines in the sediment from silt washed into the lakes from spring runoffs. The yearly lines are continuous and often go way past 10,000 years. They can also carbon date the pollen found in those silt layers. A global flood would have obliterated those sediment records.
I called professor Richard Alley at Penn State Univ, who was on the Greenland team and he talked to me for an hour ( mid 90's)- he told me all about the glacial lakes core bores. You never read any stories in the Awake about this science. Prof. Alley wrote a book- The two Mile Time Machine- I have a copy.

Normalcy bias keeps JWs from leaving
by zimunzucz ini have been frustrated by the inability of most jws to escape their bondage to the kh, despite repeated exposure to negative information about their religion and belief system.
perhaps it's due in part to something called normalcy bias- a definition i have found is:.
normalcy bias is part of human nature and, to some extent, we are all guilty of participating in it.

A college student could do a PHD thesis on WT mind control of JWs- they use every mind trick in the book. -

WT will sink its own ship due to inabilities to effectively adapt to social evolutionary pressure
The LDS religion (Mormons) adapted and grew despite more overwhelming odds against them. I see no reason why the JWs won't adapt and survive. They finally embraced the Internet and I suspect more and more JWs are getting their leads from visits to the JW website. I also see that the WT is slowly adapting. The 5 day district assemblies of my era have gone the way of the Dodo bird- The WT leaders are gradually paring down to just a weekend of talks. They are marketing more to immigrant groups as they see more increases from them. Cold calling and random neighborhood witnesssing is going to become less important to JW growth in the future. All they need is to get lucky and have some teensy prediction appear to come true, to reinvigorate the sleepy mob in the KH.
JWs, IMO need to somehow drop their no-blood transfusion dogma and the direct shunning of former members- that has to stop. No more breaking up families and killing their kids from lack of blood transfusions. If they do that, I will no longer care much about the JWs. They can fritter their life away studying WT mags for all I care.
I must be an anomaly, as I read the Orwellian world of JWs off the shelf at the library, followed the bread crumb trail and exited all on my own 6 months later- no hand holding required.(1988)
