An Unbelieve Mate asked his DF'd son-in-law to remodel his bathroom. The elders talked to UBM's wife and told her she should have used her influence to stop it. UBM called the elders and gave them the riot act. He told them they were no better than the gestapo. He went at them for at least ten minutes even though the elders tried to interrupt. UBM still goes to the meetings with his wife, but the elders keep their distance now,

We Were Just Shunned By A Old Friend Who Was Just D'FD Herself For..
by Lady Liberty inhi friends.... just went to the grocery with my husband and about ran right into a old friend of ours that i have known since we lived in a little one horse town in minnesota when i was in 2nd grade, (32 years ago!!).
i looked at her and she immediately turned her head but kept trying to peak at my husband and i two lanes away through the magazines.
i waited for her to look at me and when she finally did and had eye contact , i started to smile a friendly smile at her and she looked away quickly.

"Ex-DFd JWs can become more righteous and zealous than the normal JW who never got in trouble."
Sorry! I've had problems lately submitting before I'm finished.
As Clyde would say, "There's nothing worse than a reformed sinner."
BTW, how do I put a border around a quote? I used to know when we were on the other website.

2009 "Keep On The Watch" is a milestone convention like Cedar Point- not!
by JimmyPage inmy dad hasn't been to the convention yet but he is very excited to go.
he has been told by a friend of his who went that it is a milestone convention like cedar point, ohio and that after this, nothing will be the same again.. from what i know he is in for a disappointment.
i think they could safely call this year's assembly theme "much ado about nothing"!.

I've seen people who were DF'd shun me, and then I figured out that they didn't know that I wasn't a witness any longer and decided to avoid me to avoid embarrassment.
Could that have been the case with your old friend?

For those that were/are SINGLE in the ORGANIZATION, did anyone encourage you to marry a WEIRD JW?
by BonaFide inbizzybee's comment about the elders encouraging her at 19 to marry the 40+ yr old widow with 4 kids made me remember similar stuff.. the elders encouraged me as a young brother to stay single.
some of the younger sisters seemed to like me, but the friends in the congregations i visited always wanted me to marry the weird ones.
they called them "spiritual.

A young brother in our congregation (elder's son) was encouraged only to marry an elder's daughter. The only available girl was wierd to say the least. She never spoke to anyone unless they were had her dad's "approval." Dad had all kinds of requirements for his future son-in-law such as joining him in the family study, pioneering, etc. The marriage lasted less than a year--the girl got pregnant by somebody else, she was df'd but now reinstated. The young brother returned home to live with his family, and for some reason his father was removed as an elder because of this.

Happy District Convention Experience - "Our Pioneer family ate food from the gutter."
by Witness 007 inyes how impressed i was 3 years ago at the district convention no less, when a pioneer family came out kids and all...the talk was on "sacrifice.
" the parents saying how dad works part-time in a crap job just for petrol money and bare necessities!
they relate how one day after witnessing the had no money left due to car repairs for food, but.....jehover provides...a vegetable truck must have taken a corner too fast and dropped some produce in the gutter....dinner said the pioneer kids....jehovahs blessing on us!.

I remember an experience where a pioneer couple finished up their field service and realized they had nothing to eat for that day. Then they spotted a field of dandelions so they gathered the greens. They were sooo greatful that Jehovah had provided their food for the day.

The Biggest B.S. stories you've heard from a talk
by superman ina few years ago at a convention, they related a story of a jw who was shot during service.
but rather then stop and get medical attention (like a normal person would have done) they moved on to the next door to finish the street.
when they got to the house the householder just so happened to be a (you guessed it) nurse!

From a public talk given by a visiting speaker at our KH - A young man from Africa (I believe) was thrown out of the house by his non-witness parents because he was getting baptized as a witness. He was impoverished, but nevertheless started pioneering. He had nothing to eat for a week, but he was still happy that he was in the ministry. Then he was assigned to the local Bethel home, but he felt guilty about eating three meals a day, so only partook of one per day.

I keep hearing too many sisters and not enough brothers. Around here, It's just the opposite--at least in the last few years.
