  luke 21:23 " woe to the pregnant woman and the ones suckling a baby in those days!

  for there will be great necessity upon the land and wrath on this people.. the society always applied this scripture, which was talking about the destruction of jerusalem, to the last days and the destruction of this system of things.

  the big 1975 push was in full swing when my mother found out she was pregnant with my youngest sister.

  I remember all the hoopla about 1975 as well as the brutal persecution in Malawi which was very upsetting. I remember writing several letters to the officials in Malawi as well. I didn't really believe in the 1975 date--remembering a statement in the All Scripture Is Inspired Book which was first published in 1963 (page 286):

  "Does this mean that by 1963 we had progressed 5,988 years into the "day" on which Jehovah 'has been resting from all his work'? No, for the creation of Adam (4026 BCE) does not correspond with the beginning of Jehovah's rest day. Following Adam's creation, and still within the sixth creative day, Jehovah appears to have been forming further animal and bird creations.....Whatever time elapsed between Adam's creation and the end of the 'sixth day' must be subtracted from the 5,988 years in order to give the actual length of time from the beginning of the 'seventh day' until now. It does no good to use Bible chronology for speculating on dates that are still future in the stream of time."

  I was surprised thast only three years after 1963 (1966) they suddenly decided it was OK to "speculate." However, I still believed in the 70 or 80 years reasoning, but it wasn't until about 1998 that I really began my journey out of the borg. I kick myself to this day that I didn't leave sooner. It would have saved a bunch of problems.

  i'm reading crisis of conscience right now and even raymond franz mentioned in his book that ted jaracz didnt vote during governing body sessions based off of 'a gut feeling' like dan sydlik and lyman swingle did, but voted based off of having 'a mean spirit (dont quote me on that) but bascially got an overall vibe that ted jaracz was not a very nice man.

  and whats this about the child abuse policy that he enforced?

  what did he do that made every ex-jw's in america hate him?

  My daughter-in-law's father stated that he went out in service once with Teddy--it was during an assembly. Thought he was very nice. Well you can't find out much a person's real character in two or three hours.

  I pointed you to that website to show that not all scientists are in agreement. One thing is for sure--at any one time the earth is either warming, cooling or staying the same.

  BTW, what was the weather like in Russia during the 30's? Or in the rest of the world? I know one thing. Lots of Americans lost their crops due to the heatwaves in the 30's, and lots of people lost their lives.

  "I remember the good old days of renting facilities or driving a long distance to the circuit assemblies. When they build such it can be a real blessing for those going to the assembly."

  That depends on where you live in relation to the location of the assembly hall. In the old days the assembly locations moved from city to city so sometimes it was in our home town. My cousin has to drive a couple of hundred miles now to her assembly hall.

  There's a bear sanctuary near Newberry. We were hesitant to visit it thinking it would be a tourist trap, but it was great. Highly recommend it.

  now that the grand boasting sessions are well under way, now is a good time to discuss what they are restricting on supplies there.

  the "one towel" rule is quite famous by now.

  however, i have heard scattered reports that they are rationing things like toilet paper as well.

Honest truth, swear on a stack of Bibles. All of this happened at the 8 day long International Assembly in Atlanta in or 1967? or 1968?"

  That assembly was in 1969--I was there. The heat was vicious, and I had a 2-year old son. That's probably why he always hated assemblies.

  I remember long, long lines at lots of assemblies. There was one assembly where the bathroom attendant actually walked out along the line and asked if there were any "emergencies", and they could go to the head of the line. I thought that was rather kind.

  I remember an assembly somewhere where we were "encouraged" to not flush the toilet if you only had a little bit of pee and toilet paper--let the next person flush one time for two people. This was not an announcement from the platform--it was from the bathroom attendant, and I don't know if the person was given those instructions or if it was her own idea.
