I read an article in the WT maybe 30 years ago that said that, when Jesus said "return your sword to it's place", that this was not referring to self-defense. I believe it even mentioned the scripture at Exodus 22:2: "If a thief should be found in the act of breaking I and he does get struck and die, there is no bloodguilt for him." How things have changed

Protect Your Family??
by Tech49 inhere is an article in the current study copy of the wt.
tell me your thoughts and i will tell you mine.!
this is a topic that i am very sensitive about, as i could never see not protecting my family, even if that meant using whatever means at hand to do so!

Just heard that the WT sent money to help brothers in Russia
by Bonnie_Clyde inclyde and i had lunch with a friend who attended the assembly with his wife.
he told us that he was sure he heard that the wt had sent money to russia to help the brothers financially.
i told him that i heard the opposite....that they are directing witnesses to meet in private homes and set up a donation jar for the sole purpose of sending money to the wt, giving explicit instructions on how to transmit the funds.

"If there is a real burning hell, back in 1969 in Atlanta"
Clyde and I were in our 20's and we had our 2-year old boy with us. Mid-week Clyde got sick, it was so hot and humid. He had to stay back at the hotel for the air-conditioning, but dutifully I took our son to the assembly. FINALLY, Sunday morning Clyde said, "We are leaving!" I was shocked as I felt it was our duty to stay for the entire week. But we left and drove up into the mountains of North Carolina, and I can't describe the relief. Clyde almost immediately got better with the cooler mountain air. We've talked about that miserable assembly for years.

have you noticed how the main Jw preaching message has changed?
by nowwhat? inyears ago it was all about armageddon and getting out of babylon the great.
then with the draw close to jehovah and is there a creator that care about you.
it was all about building a relationship with jehovah.

They still talk about Armageddon but only to themselves, don't want to tell the public because they want to keep the message positive. I watched a TV show that was about several religions that teach Armageddon, and JW's were not mentioned.

$25,000 for one-day assembly in our area
by Bonnie_Clyde inthey started out with a $3,500 carry-over but by the end of the day they were short $25,000.
the speaker eloquently beseeched the audience to go the atm machines and give their generous contribution or at least their widow's mite.
after the sessions were over, our friend who attended walked from one end of the assembly hall and then to the other end and noticed long lines up to both machines with people who couldn't wait to run up their credit cards.

Later in the car, even his hard-core JW wife mentioned that she wondered how it cost that much for a one-day assembly in a building that was fully paid for.

"I often wondered why an Elder was removed when a child left "the troof." Isn't that child an adult and can now choose freely?"
Seems like Jehovah lost 1/3 of his angels. What about the Nephilim? Did that make him a bad father?

Years ago the meeting at our hall was actually 2 hours and 15 minutes (maybe 2 hours and 10 minutes). The Ministry School had to be a full hour, the Service meeting had to be a full hour, and we had to allow extra time for song and prayer, including the middle song. So the meeting started at 7:25 p.m. and ended about 9:40 p.m. That was really rough on the school kids. We would get home at 10:15 p.m. at the earliest.

Watchtower Annulled My Baptism
by RICHT incontrary to popular belief you can have your baptism annulled as i did by my local elders after my judicial hearing.. the watchtower of 1964 page 126 first paragraph clearly states that anyone that was committing a gross sin before, during and after their baptism is void.
in order to get right with the lord you would need to be re-baptised.
err no thanks, i'm not a believer!!!!.

Don't forget back in the 60's, you didn't have to go through all the questions with an elder before baptism. Basically all you had to do was show up. A person could have claimed ignorance.

It appears legit to me. Three things I noticed.
1) It was a doctor in the congregation who gave her treatment and who seduced her, but she wouldn't tell them who the doctor was? Seems like they could figure it out. How many doctors would there be in a congregation? Most congregations don't have any.
2) "If guilty of adultery before 1947, don't dig in." What happened in 1947?
3) They were calling the congregation a "company" as late as 1951?
