Boy do I know the feeling, Hamas. Sorry you are going through this. I too have lost what I felt to be very close friends. It is hard to see them and they they turn their heads like I am a complete stranger. I still think of them and wonder if they think of me. I just have to realize that they too are victims and what they are doing they feel is right. Since I left, I have made real friends who love me unconditionally, not someone who cares for me because of how much time I turn in, how much I comment at meetings, how many talks I give in the ministry school...etc.

As an elder or MS, how did you NOT see it, or did you just fake it ???
by run dont walk ini find it fascinating, i never had a position in the congregation, .
how does an elder, who sees all the flipflops in doctrine, the special body of elders letters and publications, and jc, and elders meetings, not see that the watchtower is full of ----, .
did judical commitees, and elders meetings take a toll on you ???

I wondered the same thing. Seems to me that they stay because they like the POWER they have. I also believe even though they deny it....that they are getting money for what they do. Some how, some way....they are getting PAID!!!

This is sooooo sad! I have a brother who is autistic so you can imagine how I feel about this. My brother is 30 and he is the sweetest person around. My heart is just filled with for him. I could only imagine the fear this poor 8 year old felt. This makes me so sick!!!

Disappointed a little .... How many of your family still stuck in the borg?
by run dont walk inmy brother had called a few months ago, and said he and his family will be travelling through on their way to the usa, i have now found out that they are passing me by, and just continuing on to their destination.. i haven't seen him or my nephews in 10 years, actually this was the first time i talked to him in 5 years and was quite surprised they were even considering coming by.
a brief history on me, i left the borg at 20, and i ran, moved 2000 miles to get away from family.
they really believed (i think) that i was going to fall flat on my face and come crawling back asking for forgiveness, dream on.

The only ones that were witnesses in my family were my mother, 2 sisters, and my 2 children ( who were 5 and 13 at the time ). My father, husband and brother in laws were never involved. When I left everyone joined me, so I now have my WHOLE family back. Things are wonderful!!! We are so complete. Witnesses really seperate families, even though they claim they don't. LIARS!!!

Gettin' Personal here.......
by Frannie Banannie inthanks to little toe's piquing my interest on this subject, i hafta ask it...... .
has anyone here had any personal spiritual experiences and is anyone here brave enough to describe/relate any personal spiritual experiences they've had, whether pre-borg, during being borganized or post-borg?
to be more specific, have you ever seen any angels or spirit creatures, been made aware of their presence in any way, interacted with or communicated with them, or had dream/visions...etc?

OK Frannie, What do you make of this?
This happened when I was a witness. I never spoke about it until after I left because I was afraid what people may have said or thought.
I was really sad one morning and I was crying. I had to walk my daughter to school and I had my infant son with us in a stroller. This happened almost 9 years ago because my son turned 9 in May. I took my daughter to class and when she was settled I left and headed home. Everyone was in class by then and the place was quickly deserted. I walked toward the bike rack where there was a exit gate. I was all alone and it was quiet. As I approached the gate, I heard footsteps behind me. I turned around and to my surprise there was an older woman walking with a stroller. ( I had no idea where she came from, it was like she just appeared out of no where ) She noticed I was upset and asked me if I was o.k. I told her I was having a bad morning but I would be fine. She told me my son was cute. I told her her baby was a cutie too. She told me it was her grandchild. We talked briefly and to my surprise she had cheered me up and I was feeling so much better. She told me she had to go, I told her it was nice talking to her and she told me the same. We said our goodbyes and turned to leave. I turned left and she turned right. I took a few steps and turned around and she was GONE!!! Now the way the street was set up there is no way possible she could have gone across the street to a house that quickly and there were no turns to make, just going straight. It was like she disappeared into thin air just as she had appeared. I had never seen this woman before and I have never seen her again. I had the most unbelievale feeling at that moment. The first thought that came to mind was.... could this have been an angel? I am still wondering????
What do you think???

As a witness did you secretly celebrate holidays?
by Dimples inwhen i was a witness i knew of many who would either celebrate certain holidays in secret or make up for them some other way.
such as, family day ( christmas ) costume parties ( halloween ), i even knew several who made it a point to go see the fireworks on the 4th of july.
my mother told a wife of an elder that she always felt weird on mother's day for not sending a card to her mom, because her mom expected one.

The wife told her to send a thinking of you card instead so she could make her mother happy and not break any rules.
I became a witness after I was an adult and had a child. I always missed Christmas. I had some wonderful memories of Christmas as a child and I felt bad that my kids couldn't experience it. We had our first Christmas as a family in 2000 and the kids loved it. We have been making all kinds of holiday memories since.
Just wondering what have you all done to substitute holidays or what have you experienced what others did. Also, what holiday did you miss the most and wish you could have celebrated?
For me it was Christmas and birthdays

Unbelievable experiences at assemblies or conventions
by Dimples inwhat experience at an assembly or convention caused you to raise your eyebrows in disbelief?.
one that comes to mind is a 5 year old conducting several bible studies.
wasn't it hard enough for an adult to get a bible study?

One that comes to mind is a 5 year old conducting several bible studies. Wasn't it hard enough for an adult to get a bible study? This must have been a little genius, don't you have to be able to read to conduct studies? Not only the book you are studying but also bible scriptures. I don't know about you but I thought that was a little hard to believe. While everyone was clapping and so proud of this child, me and my Mom were looking at each other thinking... Yeah Right!!

Of course! When I left the organization, I was amazed how people I knew said how different I looked. They said I actually looked happy. Now that I am out, whenever I see the witnesses they look so sad. I just can't believe I had that same depressing look before.
