Talk to me about declination and hour angle.
Which star trail?
one of the things that i have only done once... but i would love to do again and again until i perfect the technique, is called star trails.. my camera is a canon 60d.
there is a way to "hack" the canon dslr's so that they get some amazing functionalities, such as taking a picture just by clapping (really cool for when you want to take a picture and no one is able to push the button) and taking pictures at certain intervals.. you can read more about this "hacking" on .

(Don't know if this thought's already been mentioned in the thread but ...) The WT lessons will be studied in September - just before the October '100th birthday of the Kingdom' and the AGM. Big hype/developments. Surely the Great Trib. will be about to blow on the world scene? Then Oct. will come and go, then 2014 will turn to 2015. It's like the GB are innoculating the sheeple against the fallout when suddenly nothing happens and some/many inevitably start to question, 'murmur,' voice and seek out explanations for their disappointments and doubts. (Like the 1920s after the 1914 failed expectations and Russell dying. Dissent and schisms. Rutherford pulled on his jackboots and stomped on them.)

Since stars do not move (with respect to our timeframe) the photo is proof of the earth's rotation. The camera is static and moves with the earth, the exposures taken over a number of hours.
And 2 hours of exposure have produced star trails measuring 30° of arc.

ILoveTTATT: I evidently took pictures of the celestial equator. That is why the stars on the top part of the pic seem to curve differently than the ones in the bottom part of the pic.
Yep, he's right, prologos. He was facing south or south-east. You can see the stars are rising and culminating (thus south of the celestial equator). It looks like his first 2 pics are in reverse time order.
To get a similar trail effect in the southern hemisphere, he'd have to be facing north to north-west where they'd have passed culmination (north of the celestial equator here) and would be on their way to setting.
i did not know anything about ttatt while attending the meetings.. .
ttatt=the truth about the truth..
Hubby about 20 years (learned ttatt pre-internet). Me about 10. It's been complicated. JWD/N has helped keep me sane throughout. Been a year since we stepped inside a KH.

No, Iridium flares have a distinctive trail when photographed. They start off as a faint moving dot, over seconds becoming very bright (flaring), then dimming again before disappearing.

Well, that is a stellar first attempt, ILoveTTATT
Other 'trail' pictures you might want to try eventually are ISS fly-bys and Iridium satellite flares.
several years ago on beliefnet there was a jw apologist named "apologist".
he was very well written and defended the dubs very well.
he had several debates with auld soul and others on beliefnet which were fun to read.. i recently found out that the poster "apologist" is no longer a witness and does not consider them to have the "truth".
He did (does?) have a prickly arrogance to him which I found irritating. Still, he devoted himself, perhaps obsessively, to biblical education/learning; he didn't like the Org's stance on higher education and individual biblical research and went to Theological College despite obstacles and attitudes (including from some evangelicals due to his beliefs at the time). Gotta give the guy credit for his energy, determination and standing by his beliefs.

Nice :-) Are those planes or satellites crossing those trails?
Have you tried the circumpolar stars?
