Dumb non-attorney question: Can Losch be prosecuted for perjury for saying he never worked for the Service department, when of course clearly he did, and does?

Is this statement made "under oath"?

My dumb non-attorney answer:

He affirmed under penalty of perjury under the CA laws that his declaration was true and correct.

Would they prosecute him individually for perjury? Not worth it, I'm guessing. The referees/judges deemed that the objections to Lösch's appearing for deposition had no real merit. He was court ordered to comply along with WTSNY. They didn't and were slapped with a hefty multi-million dollar penalty.

And what about this doozy: "I do not answer to Watchtower ... ... Watchtower does not have, and never has had, any authority over me."

Really? Oh, that's been true since 1994. Watchtower answers to Lösch and his fellow GB members, but before then? He was as required to kowtow to Watchtower authority as the next JW.

Note that Lösch stated as being true on February 4, 2014:

"I do not supervise or work for, and I have never supervised or worked for ... the U.S. Service Department."

We began serving at Brooklyn Bethel in July 1990. In 1992, I was appointed as a helper to the Service Committee of the Governing Body, and since July 1994, I have had the privilege of serving on the Governing Body. - Lösch's life story.

The Service Committee supervises the Service Department.

SERVICE COMMITTEE: Those on this committee have oversight of the preaching work and matters affecting congregations, pioneers, elders, and traveling overseers. It supervises the preparation of Our Kingdom Ministry and calls in Gilead School and Ministerial Training School students, later giving them postgraduate assignments. -http://wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/2008367

A scan of the Committees' members on the ad1914.com site shows that, as of September 2014, Lösch was part of the Service Committee.

For Lösch's declaration statement to be true he would have had to have bypassed working in the Service Department and assigned to starting work as a Service Committee helper straight from another Department and, as GB member from 1994, he would never have served on the supervisory Service Committee until after February 2014.

Does that sound likely?

No.

Lösch's declaration ("in support of motion to quash order granting Plaintiff's motion to compel deposition") can be found among the documents HERE.

You need to scroll about half way down to pdf page 70. It's interesting reading.

i posted here a week ago some disturbing news for congregations being consolidated in britain.

my goodness that was nothing !

a letter was read today from bethel addressed to all congregations in britain that can only be described as the biggest news for years.the main points:.

Yep. It will mean extra time, effort and expense travelling to meetings and altering work routines to fit in with new meeting times or defecting to another congo with a better schedule. Any hard-earned cash the poor publishers have scraped together to put into building/renovating their own halls to last till the big A (as they see it) - poof! - all for nothing. Watchtower pockets the lot. Still, Watchtower has to fund its snazzy new tv studios, Bethel complexes and lawsuit defenses/judgments somehow.

Kingdom Hall consolidations in the UK

/from reliable sources (brothers in position within the congragation) i've been informed that in two different location within the uk congragations are to be consolidated .these men are loyal to the society and have no contact with ex-jw community .many brothers and sisters within these 4 congragations are devasted and undertantably very upset .one of these congragation has in excess of 150k in the bank currently "held" by the society as a loan .do you have any more information on this ?

is this just a one off or a new trend ?.

ok so i know its not really anything to do with jwness but we are struggling with baby names and really can't think of one we both like.

its getting a bit desperate as i'm due in about 8 weeks .. i'm getting bored of looking at the same old names on the baby names websites so any suggestions would be much appreciated (girls please).. **cash prize for the one we choose!

Thirdwitness (I call him 'T-wit' for short) is a long-time internet JW apologist who was, for a time, a follower of ex-JW 'prophet' e-watchman/Robert King. I and many others have slugged it out with him on 607 and other stuff in the past. There are huge threads from years ago on this board where T-wit and his dishonest arguments get a good kicking by the likes of AlanF, Hillary Step and others.

A well-summarized background on this character can be found in an older thread HERE (donuthole's post), and he still surfaces from time to time on the topix forum.
