  Do you have a better career now that you're out?

  just dawned on me that i couldn't do my job if not for leaving.

  i'm a director of marketing for a telecom company and travel the country constantly, different city and state every three months or so.

  part of the job is "having" to take people out for drinks and dinner, etc all the time.

  Oh definatly!!!

  I got an awesome job at a Radio Station, i was a Promotions Coordinator. I had to work alot of
  weekends and nights, and promote at clubs and bars, i couldnt beleive i got paid for that job. Anyhow, that
  was all before i became a full time mommy. Had i married in 'the truth' i would never have been able
  to be a full time mommy since we probably wouldnt have been financially stable. My husband had
  the opportunity to go to college, unlike those of us that were dicouraged from attending college.

  straight away told im not ready for baptism, not with the amount and depth of questions, that ive been warned about these sites and that apostates will do anything to knock jws.

  proving its the true religion bec the bible says it will happen (shows me scriptures).

  also told it doesnt happen with any other religious group - usually people just quietly leave and make no fuss - further proof that ths is the true religion.. i asked about all the dates where predictions were made, eg 1914, 1975. was told there were some articles loosly talking the 'possibility' of something happening, but the wt never said it definitely would - how could it, these are just ordinary men, not profits.

  why do JW try to alienate reality

  what i mean by this is how can they believe a baby shouldn't have both parents?

  i truly believe both mother and father should be united together for their baby.

  i posted a question regarding marrying outside the jw earlier... please help me understand this atrocity.

  'alienate reality' is the best two words i have seen to describe the jw mentality.

  I married an unbeliever, and when my mom learned he was not willing to convert
  she kept dropping hints and giving me information about seperation or divorce
  because he could put my spirituality in jeaopardy. She direagrded the fact that
  we are very happy and very much in love, plus how wonderful he is to me and
  our son. Very sad!!!

  he took a bet from satan that job would remain faithful.. that bet cost jobs wife her life, their childrens lives.

  they died because of a bet.

  but yet god is deserving of worship?

  Seeing JWs in a positive light.

  not a new light, just a positive light.. sometimes on here i worry that all jws are painted with a bad brush when i know that not to be the case.

  today i was looking after a jw patient on the ward and she was the most wonderful old girl you could meet, she really made me smile, and she was bright as a button.

  later her family came in, who i didn't recognise and they were just as pleasent.

  I also beleive that its not the people themselves that are mean and unloving. Its how they are taught to treat unbeleivers,
  thats the essence of mind control. I dont blame them for trying to do what they think is right, they are lost and i feel sad
  for them. Not saying its right, but its what happens. Everywhere you go there are nice people and there are mean people
  its just the way things are. There are some very genuine people in that Org that really beleive they are doing what they
  are suppose to, i have known some that would give you the shirt on their back. Others like the elder that df'd me could
  jump in a hole for all i care.

  For those raised as JWs...

  i have found that while i can remember my childhood from ages 3-5, i can't remember much after that until i was 17 or so.

  my mom came into the jws when i was 3, and i remember celebrating our last christmas.

  it was a small christmas tree on the end table and it had a present for each of us (2 kids).

  Yes, i know what you mean. I was diagnosed with PTSD also, i dont remember alot of my childhood, and certain ages are a blur to me.
  I think its your minds way of trying to cope, more of a defense mechanism.
  I was born and raised in the Org, im not sure that it has anything to do with the meetings and study
  but i had alot of other abuse going on that i had to deal with.
  Either way i was doomed, i had no real childhood whatsoever.

  Dont worry, im all better now.

  Note-Taking at Meetings: What's the Point?

  the last time i was at a meeting, i was struck by how many jws -- mostly women and pre-teenage kids were assiduously taking notes.

  i mean, what is the point?

  do they really believe the guy on the platform is saying anything that can't be found -- and reiterated -- dozens if not hundreds of times in their printed material?

  You know what is so funny about this. I was going through a box of old papers and stuff that i had, and i came across an old writing tablet
  with notes from the meeting. Most of it was scriptures, but on the corners of the paper were notes that my sisters and i would write back and forth,
  you know the kind you got in big trouble for, it was quite funny reading them again, we were silly.
  

  We definatly didnt take notes to use at a later time, it was so we wouldnt snooze off.
