Joel, I took a pottery class once a couple years back, it was awesome. It was relaxing and challenging at the same time.
Good luck, i hope you enjoy your class. Dont make too many bowls, you wont know what to do with them all.
(not that i know anything about making too many pottery bowls)

This is a really good question, i don't think a jw would know how to answer. In fact i would be curious to know what one would say at the door. I will keep the question in mind, in case they happen to grace my door with their presence.

i had to come home early from work today because a 17 year old girl came over to me and was all upset she asked if she could come up and visit with my wife and i. she said the brothers are always picking on her and she can not do anything right.
i asked,what have you done she said nothing every time it is some one making things up and she is tired of even trying any longer.
teenagers come from over all the area they they know they can come and talk to us and we will not judge them.

You and your wife are the kind of people i wish i could have had around me as a teen.
Its wonderful that you have built these trusting relationships with so many people that
need just a listening ear and some good advice. Keep reminding them to have an open
mind, without going into detail, that way they seek knowledge from everywhere.

this is my first post and here's my story.. my father became a witness long ago and my mom remained a lutheran.
our attendance was sporadic due to mom's opposition.
they knew our mom was lutheran and that she kept us from attending many meetings.

would you go to a funeral at a kingdom hall?
would it have to be someone that is very close family or just an acquaintance?.
i dont know that jw funerals really off ther much closer and point blank i can not think of a single person i would go to the hall for.
I went when a very close friend of our family passed, he was like an uncle to me,
very sweet old man. But one of the elders in my JC made a big deal about me
sitting with my family, and i shouldnt have been allowed to sit with them, and that
i should have been in the back. I was already emotional as it was, and he made the
whole experience very miserable for me. I cant stand that guy!
Anyhow, my 'spriritual' Grandmother died a couple years ago and i didnt go to
the service at the hall. I really wanted to go, but since i had such a bad experience
before, i did not want to repeat that. I was so sad over her passing, i mourned her
at home in my own way, it still makes me sad to think about her, i would have
wanted her family to know how much i loved her, but sometimes we allow things
like what that elder did to get in the way.
Would i attend another service at the hall. Probably not, but then again, i would have
to base that on the circumstance.

i always wondered why the jw religion doesn't list their location and invitation to their meetings in the local "church and worship places section of our paper?.
i was told when i was a jw that it is because they are no part of "babylon the great".
i settled for that.. .
great question, i dont have an answer for you, but i have wondered that myself.
I was always told the same as you, that they never wanted to be referred to as
a religion.
interested to see what others have to say.
Then again, we are talking about the dubs, they can say and do whatever they
want and not have a reason for it.
