  Demon attacks on JW in past, where'd they go?

  in the 80's and 90's (maybe even earlier) i remember hearing lots of witnesses talk about "demon attacks".

  whether it was someone studying the bible who then started having strange things happen in their house to people bringing stuff home from yard sales and getting personal attacks and horrible dreams resulting in them dystroying stuff they brought home or getting rid of it.. .

  i also remember hearing a sister say she had to pray in a home with a study because the study started to get attacked.

  There was a similar rumor floating around in the late 70's.

  The story floating around So-Cal was that Jeane Dixon claimed she was short on predictions because the spirits indicated to her that they were; "too busy working on the families of Jehovah's Witnesses".

  I don't know how these rumors get started. The Smurf thing as well. I lived in Seattle in the early 80's and there was a story making the rounds about someone going into their kid's room and the child's Smurfs were dancing around on their own. These stories become more detailed and fantastic with each retelling.

  Pure, unadulterated BS.

  Someone else posted a Smurf story in another thread. I hadn't heard that one before and it was even more bizarre.

  GB member visits Bolton--UK

  ive pasted the following from a uk xjw facebook page.:.

  i found out last night that thursday,just gone, a member of the gb came to rosehill congregation in bolton to tell them the gb will now be more active and a more prominent part of their lives, this is to build trust and make it so when they revel new direction in the future, people don't push against them and they follow them.

  it's a long shot shot but what are the chances he will be at any other meeting in this district this sunday and how can i find out?.

  this letter was sent as an addendum to the elders regarding their latest elders textbook.

  i think you'll find this interesting and also disconcerting as well.. to all bodies of elders.

  For such a "secret" book it sure is readily available.

  It would probably be easier for the Elders to just torrent it off of thepiratebay and email the PDF to Kinko's and have it spiral bound on the fly.

  Am I correct to assume that this book is already obsolete? At least Chapter 3; "Appointment and Deletion of Elders and Ministerial Servants"?

  Yeah, they are single player HL mods from the haydays of HL mod community. They are both quite long (can't remember which but one is about 50% longer than HL1). Both are in English.

  I bought Portal 2 off of Steam but haven't gotten around to playing it yet. I don't have a lot of time to play games so I usually limit it to Team Fortress Classic when I get home from work (probably 15 minutes max).

  The HL tune: "Nuclear Mission" still gets my blood up.

  Just What Is The WT Up To Now?

  has anyone heard about what is going on inside the organization these days regarding those who claim to be "anointed" christians?

  i have had at least three different people now who live in different areas of the country tell me that the elders are systematically pushing out people who claim to have become anointed within the last few years.

  these would be younger ones who are now professing the heavenly rather than earthly hope.. i find this interesting for several reasons.

  I think part of it is the emotional investment. As a so-called "born in", I used to just chalk things up to; "The Society knows best". That is, when I would read or hear things that didn't jibe w/ the scriptures, I would basically ignore them and think that it was my understanding that was at fault.

  Perhaps I didn't want to really examine these things for fear of what I might find?

  It's a great game but it makes me pine for some HL3. Dying to see if GLaDOS is on the Borealis. Replayed all of them last month (HL, Opposing Force, Blue Shift, Uplink, HL2, Ep1, Ep2). Might replay Azure Sheep and Todesangst (SP mods).

  While I agree that some of Paul's writings come off as his personal opinion, we are left with the notion that the NT is "inspired" (albeit a bit of a misogynist).

  President Bush didn't receive a Divine coronation and it is my opinion that he performed some of his gaffes, intentionally, to appear folksy (artifice). Consider his debate with Ann Richards, ten years earlier:

  Additionally, I was drawing a comparision between the obvious Divine backing of Moses, versus the self-proclaimed provenance of the GB. Although I agree that the miraculous gifts would be; "done away with", I would at least expect their (GB) interpretations of scripture to be accurate (or somewhat accurate). Unless we're to assume that interpretation is also a "gift" that has been done away with. If so, why are any of us wasting our time on this?

  Consider, I spent years going to meetings and studying the publications. Now I'm expected to unlearn vast details that I wasted many man-hours learning. Hence, they except adherents to learn more/new specious teachings that may well be supplanted in the near future.

  I would like to fully comprehend the GB's assertions of a; "Spiritual Paradise" based upon a foundation of inaccurate (false?) teachings. This apparent theory of; "that was the truth, then" and; "this is the truth, now" is not tenable.
