  Funny you should mention the Paradise Book. That illustration of one of Pharaoh's soldiers that you can see being inundated by a breaking wave looked (at least to my eye) like my dad. Used to scare me that he was going to drown.

  I recall reciting the books of the Bible at the book study in 1965 or so.

  So much time spent (wasted) learning and pouring over publications and doctrine that has now been repudiated. Repeatedly studying the old Babylon Book (and Hyslop) and learning/retaining the deep, spurious teachings.

  What, exactly, was the point?

  I spoke w/ my 74 y.o. mother a few weeks ago (she's an avid meeting/service attendee) and she kept saying: "the Faithful and Discreet Slave this" and "the Faithful and Discreet Slave that" and how they're; "giving us our food at the proper time".

  So delusional it made me sick. My Dad goes to meetings w/ her but he obviously has questions himself. Pushing 90 he's probably thinking about how close he is to learning the "Grand Secret".

  The Jehovah's Witness religion has gone for good !!!

  i am not sure how you all feel as we all left at different times for different reasons.... but this new bible seems to have put some final nails into a coffin that was once my jw life.

  the religion is so far and so different to the religion i grew up in that it has become something i feel no affiliation with anymore, no bond, no shared ideas or even sentimental views.

  different teachings on when the end is coming.

  Well, you had to give it to Fred Franz. At least his writings were extravagently detailed enough to invoke a kernel of awe. This current crop is confused and comparatively simplistic.

  At least in the Franz era, we had some meat (albeit TVP that was flavored to taste sort of like meat).

  Geez Louise, they're changing stuff so often/fast that it would be a wonder that anyone could keep up. I can imagine the conversations; "oh no Brother, that's what we believed week before last, the new teaching is 'yadda yadda'". And then someone else will say; "wait, I believe that was changed at last night's Service Meeting".

  I was actually present during the study of the "Know Jehovah" book and recall my suprise at this speculation.

  Now, let's ignore the fact that human remains are made up of many different elements (would we require say, "anti-calcium" or would we need an "anti-corpse" to anihilate each set of remains? Thus far, anti-helium is the most complex anti-atom detected.), the energy produced in a matter/antimatter reaction is roughly 100-times greater than the energy density of a typical fusion reaction.

  If we are considering 7-billion sets of remains (in varying levels of decay) and we assume an average weight of say, 20 kilograms, we would wind up with a matter/antimatter reaction of of some 154-megatons X 2 (corpse mass + equivalent anti-corpse) or 31-gigatons of similar fusions reactions.

  This would be quite dramatic.

  Seems like the 60s and 70s had a lot of used Kevlar® dresses and undies floating around the Goodwills and Salvation Armies.

  My cousin related a story that was related in the experiences at a SoCal Circuit Assembly, in the late 70s, about a family that came home from the meeting and sat down to watch some travelogue on PBS that had some fire-walkers and some native dancing. The story goes that during the dancing portion, a demon proceded to come out the the TV, dancing the same jig, and the room got so hot (after the family evacuated) that they couldn't touch the door handle. They called the BOE and a couple of elders dropped by and wrestled the offending TV away from the wall and, once unplugged, the demon dematerialized.

  Perhaps the elders were wearing some of those Kevlar® duds from a previous, demonic experience?

  university and college campuses are notorious for bad behaviordrug and alcohol abuse, immorality, cheating, hazing, and the list goes on.

  what is the atmosphere in many of this worlds institutions of higher education?

  Our former director of my company received his job, in part, due to his Phd (honorary) in Divinity.

  At first, I thought this was going to be awesome and we were all waiting for him to cook some up. It is one of my favorite confections. Unfortunately, it turned out that he didn't know shyte about Divinity and none was forthcoming. Didn't know much about running a company either.

  Perhaps the GB should look into giving out honorary degrees as well. I've known a lot of Elders and MS that would qualify for a Phd in Psychophantics.

  I agree with your assessment of this "New Light". However, we can readily recognize that it is unsupportable, Scripturally. Basically, they (the GB) just make it up as they go along.

  It was, as you noted, supposed to return us to the conditions that existed prior to the "Fall". The current GB appears to be comprised of retards that wouldn't be able to pass muster as one of my staff aids. How are they expected to run a planet? Is the Holy Spirit going to miraculously imbue them with some intellect?

  But there are new heavens and a new earth that we are awaiting according to his promise, and in these righteousness is to dwell.

  I don't see anything in Scriptures, referencing the "new earth", that indicates that those dwelling on same will require "bird dogging" by the GB, or anyone else. The GB have painted a portrait of a future where we're told, by them, what to eat, where to live, what to do. They are styling themselves as future task-masters in a world where we're going to be directed in our vocations and all that we do.

  If we attain this GB envisioned "new order" we could well find ourselves looking back fondly at what was left behind (just like the Israelites did after their exodus):

  How fondly we remember the fish that we used to eat without cost in Egypt, also the cucumbers, the watermelons, the leeks, the onions, and the garlic!

  I can just imagine a future GB version of the Kama Sutra, it would be the World's Shortest Book (wouldn't get past the preface).

  It's the carrot-and-the-stick. You are granted eternal life as a slave and mindless drone.

  Oh Joy!

  Of course the problem for the GB is that the cartoon they've drawn doesn't reflect the description recorded in The Scriptures. The WTS used to reference ancient Israel as the model. When the Israelites followed the law, they prospered:

  All the drinking vessels of King Sol′o·mon were of gold, and all the utensils of the House of the Forest of Leb′a·non were of pure gold. There was nothing made of silver, for silver was considered as nothing in the days of Sol′o·mon.

  "silver was considered as nothing".

  This is a far-cry from the GB's eternal "worker's paradise".
