posting this under friends, as it is not about beliefs and religions.
the birth of christ.
there is that which is not a separate deity too small and limited to be present, but rather that which is presence itself.. there is that which is not a distant savior whose love is conditional and restricted to faith, but rather is the very presence of unconditional love itself.. there is that which is not a creatural spirit who offers peace for acts of faith, but rather that which is peace itself.. there is that which is not a god gleamed from a book believed by some to be alive and true, but rather than which is all-embracing life and truth itself.. there is that which is not a spiritual-being who some day may arrive, but rather that which is the living present-moment of beingness itself.. there is that which is not a separate lord who is holy and pristine, but rather that which is purity itself.
You have peace and serenity which abounds with all your posts.
Thanks for your insight!
i posted this in another forum and i was advised to repost it here as well, so here you go.
the is the first time i've posted in a jw related forum since some years ago when i was an ms, or really made any comments to any former or current members outside of the immediate family.
although this may not be the appropriate subforum for it, i'll explain just a bit of my own history because it relates to my own conclusions as to the topic here at hand.
Welcome
I would love to hear more of the journey that set you "free"...and I want to hear that you are getting a "sound night's sleep" as well.

Thanks so much for posting it!!! and welcome to the board... Please tell us a little about yourself, if you can.
i've been reading this forum for a while and i felt it was time to post my experience.
i am very comforted when i read others experiences and how similar they are to mine, i don't feel alone.. anyway, i learned the truth in 97, got baptized in 98. all of sudden i was getting prvileges, parts on the ca and dc and had friends that seemed to care about me and i cared for them.
eventually the love started to cool off, the meetings felt like watching reruns of a bland tv show.
Welcome
I really enjoyed reading about how you became a JW and your realizations that something was wrong. As mentioned by another poster, since your family are not JW's your fade will be "much easier"... ( I am in a fading position but I have a lot of JW family.......sigh)
I wish you the best and your wife as well!!!

desperation.
the evidence mounted that your faith which you mistakenly built upon men, your entire spirituality, your life, was standing precariously high upon the wobbling foundation of an artfully contrived fraud.
remember the quiet desperation?
Excellent post
I think I am in between those worlds and thus that great struggle of being "me"...afraid of the possible losses and labeling
about two minutes ago the announcement was made that auldsoul was "no longer one of jehovah's witnesses".

So to the people that say they would celebrate their birthday on the wrong day, would you do so every year?
I have missed an anniversary and had to celebrate it once at a different time...but I would not do that on a permanent basis, it takes away the significance to the event.
Don't misunderstand: I think the holidays are a great time for families, because we all know that the only family thing we did as JW 's were meetings, f. service, assemblies...nothing FUN!
I guess, being that Jesus is such an important person, my logic tells me it should be done on the real day he was born. Of course, the actual date is not posted in the Bible, we just know it was in the fall of the year. Even secular historians realize that fact.

I remember celebrating xmas once as a child while my MOM was still studying.........it meant nothing to me.
Jesus wasn't born on that day, so there was no meaning into putting Christ into Christmas, since he was never there to begin with...
Now it still means nothing to me as an xjw...it is still not Jesus birthday.
Would you celebrate your birthday on the wrong day?????????????
hubby has just come back from the service meeting where they have been handed out brand new style blood cards, now called 'advance decision to refuse specified medical treatment' .
it's quite a bit different.
and has the line on it about giving permission to the hospital liason committee to see your notes and medical records.. very scary stuff i think, and i certainly wont be filling one in.. i'm really short of time tonight, but will scan it in, along with the notes that go with it and try and post it some time over the next day or so if someone else doesn't beat me to it!.
Anybody know if the US blood card changed? If so, can you scan it so we can all see it?
