I met Mulan and her hubby this morning!!!
by codeblue injust wanted everyone to know that mulan is just as fantastic in person as what she appears to be when she writes on this board.
both mulan and her husband are very kind, down to earth people---i am glad i was able to get to know someone after reading their posts.. so for you newbies out there, realize there is "life" and good people to meet from this board.
take advantage of those opportunities, your life will be definitely enriched from this experience.. thanks again mulan for taking the time to meet me!!!.

How many poet's are among us?

the last thread i started, william penwell wrote an excellent poem, which i enjoyed tremendously.. i have been writing poetry since i was 8 years old....i also write songs.. so how many of you are poets/and or song writers?
have any of you published your works and if so....any help on finding a publisher?.

Ok...I am going to be brave and share one of my poems. I must say I have enjoyed what EVERYONE of you have written. Some made me just want to cry...I could feel the pain in which they were written.
This poem I wrote during my divorce....
Shattered Heart
How long does it take a broken heart to mend?
How long does it take to heal and for the pain to end?
When will the mind allow itself to truly forget the pain of the past?
To go on with the present life and think of peace and happiness at last?
The heart recalls the mind of the sorrow in its life.
The pain seems insurmountable and full of endless strife.
When will the peace of mind and true happiness begin?
When will the heart let go of pain and let uncertainty end?
Do we have to wipe out all memories of people in our past,
That caused our pain and misery to free us to our happiness at last?
Yes, how do we truly forget the ones who have brought us to our knees?
Who have caused such unending pain that we wish our lives would cease?

My Mom started studying before I was born.. wasn't an active witness till I was 10....I remember doing the holidays once...didn't care for them cause we were so poor, and quite frankly, didn't enjoy them even as a child.

Englishman: You are a qualified poet!!!
I also write poetry to release stress or to express emotion....
During my senior year of high school, a lot of my poetry was put into the school's yearbook. I also wrote our "class song" and sang it at my graduation, playing guitar too!!!

Gordon Lightfoot
by RAYZORBLADE inok, if you're a canuck, chances you know that gordon lightfoot is about right up there with ol' jehover!.
but if not, nevermind, but i have to admit, i have been a lifelong fan of: gordon lightfoot.. this evening, i took his 'greatest hits' and gave it a listen, and as expected, i was still enthralled with his lyrical genius, and playing abilities.. anyone a gordon lightfoot fan?.
just curious.. all your folks living along north america's "great lakes" keep in mind, next month is the 28th anniversary of the sinking of the "edmund fitzgerald".. that song, by gordon lightfoot is haunting from beginning to end (over 6 minutes).. i personally love: go-go girl in love, bitter green, canadian railway trilogy, sundown, race among the ruins, wreck of the edmund fitzgerald, and well i like just about every damn thing he ever did.. your contributions?

I am not from Canada, actually from northern Michigan, and I am a Gordon Lightfoot fan. His songs are amazing.
He was very much an inspiration to me when I was 14, I started playing guitar, and enjoyed playing some of his songs too. He is a musical legend!!!
