Helpless and hopeless,
every step takes me nowhere,
dancing around and around,
Endless so endless
Like a poorly made labyrinth
Ways in yes in but not out...
Not out never out
Of a sick senseless pattern,
spinning like dirt devils do,
Tired and breathless
Like dust she is settling,
sweat trickling tears to the floor
Motherless.. friendless,
She slowly begins to pray,
Father...please show me the way.

Thanks Dana for that info! I recently watched the movie "White Oleander" which is about a teen girl going from foster home to foster home. It was very well done and a real eye-opener for me. One of the homes she is placed in is a very religious one that goes very wrong-anyone else catch that one?

Wow...a whole new kind of "bio-terrorism" towards kids if you ask me! I would like to know what other devoutly religious foster families do when the teens in their care do not want to attend services? I doubt that the whining commentary about "This ONLY happened because we are JW's" is really true.

Gordon Lightfoot
by RAYZORBLADE inok, if you're a canuck, chances you know that gordon lightfoot is about right up there with ol' jehover!.
but if not, nevermind, but i have to admit, i have been a lifelong fan of: gordon lightfoot.. this evening, i took his 'greatest hits' and gave it a listen, and as expected, i was still enthralled with his lyrical genius, and playing abilities.. anyone a gordon lightfoot fan?.
just curious.. all your folks living along north america's "great lakes" keep in mind, next month is the 28th anniversary of the sinking of the "edmund fitzgerald".. that song, by gordon lightfoot is haunting from beginning to end (over 6 minutes).. i personally love: go-go girl in love, bitter green, canadian railway trilogy, sundown, race among the ruins, wreck of the edmund fitzgerald, and well i like just about every damn thing he ever did.. your contributions?

I am not a JW, but am married to one. I am not surprised at hearing about these "Urban Legends" that you all say were repeated ad nauseum while you were in, and are still repeated. But...let me tell you my story:
As a 6 yr old growing up with a very violent alcoholic mother, I always feared the dark-bedtime was the time she was up and would often come into my room. One night, I was terrified and began to earnestly pray (as I often did). Beside me appeared a HUGE person in white, he or she sparkled from head to foot, and he was as tall as the ceiling! The person simply said to me: "Do not be afraid, I am here". I remember rolling over and sleeping REALLY sleeping for the first time in weeks!
I did not remember this event until I formally accepted Christ as a 22 yr old, and started to learn about angels. Please do not negate the possibility of Guardians...they are real. I know I risk being laughed at royally, but this a TRUE story, and I am very grateful to my guardian, and to God who sent him/her!

I grew up in MT, so Gordon was a STAPLE for me in my turbulent 20's. I equate him with falling deeply in love for the first time, as it was my lover who introduced me to the bard. I was overjoyed to hear "Sundown" being played in my local coffee shop yesterday with a 20-something behind me singing along!
Ah YES!!! HE IS BACK!!! and more popular than ever! YEAH!!!

As a newbie and a non JW married to one, I have a rather serious question for everyone about this issue:
If you happen to know of someone who has abused children in the past, and most likely still is, what should you do? This person happens to be my husband's brother and is an active member in good standing in a cong in the NW. The entire family is JW and denies it, but my husband's children were among some of the children involved. This did occur many years ago.
My husband is just now trying to get reinstated and when asked about this, he did not want to deal with it. His kids are now grown and still dubs in a different part of the state and do not have much contact with their father's family, nor have they come forward with any pertinent info re: this abuse other than to their respective therapists. My husband hopes someday to hear "the rest of the story" in regards to his brother's actions towards his own kids, when and if they are ever ready to tell the whole truth. I think we all know why they and countless others have never come forward to "blow the whistle"on this guy.
I would dearly love to warn everyone in this particular area of the NW about this predator!
Thoughts?
