Is it alright for a Disfellowshipped Jehovah's Witness to Date?
by preacherman init is said that a dfed is handed over to satan and left alone in his or her gross unrepentant conduct.
however, you'll agree with me that not all dfeds are living that way.
the truth is that some have actually repented and stopped their bad conducts but have fallen victim to the legalistic and procedural expediences of the wbts which makes it very difficult for some to come back in the shortest period of time.

Hey Akid! Don't forget to have fun too! You've got a PC yes? Do you have friends at school you could play games with? Something like World of Warcraft might make your aunt flip out, but Minecraft would be ok surely? Everyone loves minecraft!
Or get out and kick a ball around with some mates from school. Whatever makes you happy!

Yep, it was as I thought. Here is the response from my JW brother to my text about the BBC news article:
"Those things may have happened, some elders are useless. But you don't get disfellowship for not attending the memorial, and you don't get disfellowship for leaving your abusive partner, you get disfellowship for abusing your partner. Domestic abuse is a crime and standard procedure is to report all crimes to the police. They're a long way from perfect and there are plenty of legitimate grievances, but this was a long way from that."
I have to say, he's not a very good JW and I have no idea why he wrote disfellowship and not disfellowshipped, but this shows that even a fence sitting JW will dismiss the BBC article. :(

I just read this article and my first thought is that my family is going to dismiss it because "No one gets DF'd for missing a memorial."

@Fisherman: All the days of the week are named after gods. If you use the argument that the Calendar is evidence forJesus' existence then you have to accept that the Calendar is also evidence for the existence of these other gods.
Cut and Paste from Interwebs:
Sunday comes from Old English “Sunnandæg," which is derived from a Germanic interpretation of the Latin dies solis, "sun's day." Germanic and Norse mythology personify the sun as a goddess named Sunna or Sól.
Monday likewise comes from Old English “Mōnandæg,” named after Máni, the Norse personification of the moon (and Sól's brother).
Tuesday comes from Old English “Tīwesdæg,” after Tiw, or Tyr, a one-handed Norse god of dueling. He is equated with Mars, the Roman war god.
Wednesday is "Wōden's day." Wōden, or Odin, was the ruler of the Norse gods' realm and associated with wisdom, magic, victory and death. The Romans connected Wōden to Mercury because they were both guides of souls after death. “Wednesday” comes from Old English “Wōdnesdæg.”
Thursday, "Thor's day," gets its English name after the hammer-wielding Norse god of thunder, strength and protection. The Roman god Jupiter, as well as being the king of gods, was the god of the sky and thunder. “Thursday” comes from Old English “Þūnresdæg.”
Friday is named after the wife of Odin. Some scholars say her name was Frigg; others say it was Freya; other scholars say Frigg and Freya were two separate goddesses. Whatever her name, she was often associated with Venus, the Roman goddess of love, beauty and fertility. “Friday” comes from Old English “Frīgedæg.”
As for Saturday, Germanic and Norse traditions didn’t assign any of their gods to this day of the week. They retained the Roman name instead. The English word “Saturday” comes from the Anglo-Saxon word “Sæturnesdæg,” which translates to “Saturn’s day.”

A farmer had a pet dog. Sometimes the farmer would ignore the dog, or feed him rotten food. On the rare occasions, when the dog had time off from his duties, he sometimes tried playing with a ball or chasing his tail but the farmer shouted at him and said this was unacceptable behaviour for a dog. Despite this the dog was loyal to the farmer and was happy because the farmer had told him that his was the best .farm in the world and the dog believed the farmer.
One day the circus came to town and that evening as the dog was patrolling the borders of the farm he saw a beautiful lady dog on the other side of the fence. She called to him but he ignored her as the farmer had told him that all dogs that didn't belong to the farm were evil. But the next night she was there again, and the next until finally the dog spoke to her and found out all about life outside the farm.
So the farm dog ran away with the beautiful circus lady dog and they had good times and bad times but every day the farm dog spent some time playing with a ball and he never, ever, thought about the farm or the farmer again.

I've taken a fair few substances with hallucinogenic properties, LSD, Psilocybin, Salvia Divinorum etc. and I would say that although the experience is of an expanded consciousness with heightened senses, in practice your abilities are the same, or worse even. You don't actually become all seeing or all knowing, you just think you have. :)
I don't mean to sound negative, I think it can be a hugely positive experience and you could learn an awful lot about yourself, it just isn't going to give you any epiphanies that aren't already inside your head.
