I think you could be on a hiding to nothing here. Even though he has agreed to a rational discussion, rationality will not get a look in.

Debating a Christian at work.
by pseudoxristos ina christian at work has been after me for more than a year to go to his church and be saved.
i like the guy and consider him a friend and have been politely trying to avoid the subject.
i have recently decided that enough is enough and i told him i would discuss religion with him.

Are We In A Computer Simulation?
by Brokeback Watchtower inelon musk believes we are and he's a pretty smart guy that runs spacex, a lot black hole physics may seem to present the 3 dimentional space as a hologram of a 2 dimentional sphere.. i think this is open for serious debate.
what are the pros and cons?.

Has Watchtower been hacked?
by FatFreek 2005 in"there are two kinds of companies in the world: those that know they've been hacked, and those that have been hacked and don't yet know it.
" robert hackett, fortune.
but how about watchtower?

The problem is that the of the 80,000 people that leave the org each year hardly any will have the skills and knowledge necessary to hack the org. You can't hack a computer network by hitting it with a soapy mop or a squeegee...
Of the small percentage that do have the skills, most of those won't have the knowledge of the systems required. What you need is an Ex-JW who was at Bethel, in an IT related position and has hacking skills. That combination of traits might not exist though. :(

Free to sin but still cannot bring myself to do it
by sinboi inhave da'd myself nearly 3 months ago.
now i am part of this world but i feel myself the odd one out.
something inside me is still blocking me to do the things i have been longing to do while i was still a jw, such as attending birthday parties, sex, etc.... just last nite, i was on the way to attend a birthday party.

Hi Sinboi, you have DA'd from the Witnesses, but you are still using their definitions of what constitutes a sin. Why would you do that?!
They are a false religion, their teachings are false. Their list of sins is unscriptural and immoral. Do you still consider it a sin to talk to a family member who has left the JW organisation for example?
I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned it yet, but you should check out JWFacts.com. Research on that site will show you just how wrong the JW religion is and how worthless and harmful it is to continue clinging to their beliefs.

I love heavy metal!!!
by ironsnake656 inprobably you noticed that my avatar is a photo of steve harris, bassist of iron maiden.
i have quite a few years that i started to listen this kind of music, even when i was in the jwland.
although it was a "no-no" in the borders of jwland, i knew a lot of brothers and sisters that listened and loved this kind of music.

Can I roll out my old anecdote of seeing Iron Maiden play at Twickenham? Twickenham is(was?) the main assembly venue for the UK's regional assemblies. It was brilliant to be singing "Run to the Hills" in a *packed* stadium where the last time that I had been there I had been sitting in a suit writing poems along the lines of "The Seagulls are more bored than we."
I must say that I do love Rammstein as well though. It's actually the total lack of analysis, because I don't speak German, which makes their songs a purely auditory\emotional experience.

Is it alright for a Disfellowshipped Jehovah's Witness to Date?
by preacherman init is said that a dfed is handed over to satan and left alone in his or her gross unrepentant conduct.
however, you'll agree with me that not all dfeds are living that way.
the truth is that some have actually repented and stopped their bad conducts but have fallen victim to the legalistic and procedural expediences of the wbts which makes it very difficult for some to come back in the shortest period of time.

Hey Akid! Don't forget to have fun too! You've got a PC yes? Do you have friends at school you could play games with? Something like World of Warcraft might make your aunt flip out, but Minecraft would be ok surely? Everyone loves minecraft!
Or get out and kick a ball around with some mates from school. Whatever makes you happy!

Yep, it was as I thought. Here is the response from my JW brother to my text about the BBC news article:
"Those things may have happened, some elders are useless. But you don't get disfellowship for not attending the memorial, and you don't get disfellowship for leaving your abusive partner, you get disfellowship for abusing your partner. Domestic abuse is a crime and standard procedure is to report all crimes to the police. They're a long way from perfect and there are plenty of legitimate grievances, but this was a long way from that."
I have to say, he's not a very good JW and I have no idea why he wrote disfellowship and not disfellowshipped, but this shows that even a fence sitting JW will dismiss the BBC article. :(

I just read this article and my first thought is that my family is going to dismiss it because "No one gets DF'd for missing a memorial."
