I'm not a geologist, but I imagine that there would be permanent evidence left behind if a major active volcano was submerged. All the volcano's on the earth that were active 4,000 years ago would show signs of the same event too.

Noah`s day Flood ? ( again) Waters Covering Active Volcanoes ?
by smiddy3 ini know their have been many posts dedicated to this subject already and i apologize if this aspect has been handled before.. apart from the many other absurdities relating to the flood of noah`s day being literal as jehovah`s witnesses believe and already thrashed out here by the many posts previous.. i was wondering if this aspect has been considered that the waters would have had to cover over active volcanoes with what result ?.
their are a number of" active and resting" volcanoes at any one time around the earth and i`m just wondering if anyone more knowledgeable than me about the subject would like to weigh in and give their 2 cents worth in what effect a global flood covering volcanoes would have ?.
i am aware their are fissures in the deep oceans where volcanic activity occurs ,but is this the same ?.

Beard update
by Coded Logic inso it's been over a month since i decided to grow a beard.
the mustache and chin have come in fuller than i ever imagined - while the cheeks leave me wondering if i'll ever grow enough hair to make it not look so wildly unkept and patchy (if anyone has any advice here it'd be much appreciated).
but in the mean time i'll give it another month and see how it goes.. .

Yeah, I have the same issue. Patchy coverage on the mid-cheek zone. I just use the trimmer without a head on that area to get rid of the stragglers. If I really cared I'd use a razor, but a trimmer without a head gets close enough for me.

I think I was terribly wrong...
by sinboi ini have once commented under the topic "are you better off as a worldly person or a jw?
i am a born-in but left nearly a year ago at age 16. i would say when i was a jw and was still fully convinced that it is the truth, i was happier.
i have a hope then.

You're a great person Sinboi! I've loved seeing you working through things on this forum, starting off with an idea, deciding it's wrong and moving on. Keep it up!

"Jehovah misses you."
"Jehovah is god right?"
"Yes!"
"Well, god knows everything, so he knows my mobile number and if he misses me so much he can call me."

Another marriage bites the dust ...
by EdenOne in... and this time it was mine.. mrs. eden decided to part ways and leave home, and so our 25 year long partnership is now dissolving.
.
just another colateral damage in a long list of colateral damages from being raised in the "truth".

I'm sorry that you're going through this EdenOne. My wife is Bipolar and I seriously underestimated how much of an impact it was going to have on our relationship. With everything else that's been thrown at you as well I think you're a legend for keeping going as long as you have. -

Jewish God Yahweh Originated in Canaanite Vulcan, Says New Theory
by greek inthe cult of yhwh as god of metallurgy originated among semi-nomadic copper smelters between the bronze and iron age, suggests biblical scholar: and he was not worshipped only by jews.. https://www.haaretz.com/archaeology/.premium.magazine-jewish-god-yahweh-originated-in-canaanite-vulcan-says-new-theory-1.5992072.
according to amzallag, long before becoming the deity of the israelites, yahweh was a god of metallurgy in the ancient canaanite pantheon, worshipped by smelters and metalworkers throughout the levant, not just by the hebrews.
where did the yhwh cult originate?

Argh! The article is behind a paywall!
Can you say what the links are to Yaweh in the bible and copper smelting and metallurgy? I always thought that the Yahweh origins were more flood \ water based?
Also there's an anti-settled civilisation or pro-nomadic theme to a lot of the biblical Yaweh's laws (emphasis on tents, prohibition on pork which have to be reared in settlements unlike sheep and goats etc.). Wouldn't copper smelting also require settlements with furnaces and smithy buildings?

Apostate driven lies
by pleaseresearch inok guys and gals.. let's have them.
as horrible as this may be i really want to see a few examples.
all my life i was taught that apostates just spread lies and falsehoods.. yet since i have left the organisation and looked deeply into apostate articles.

You mean lies or falsehoods about the JW's I'm assuming?
That sort of thing is most likely to be about individuals and personal grievances rather than ideology and teachings. I don't know of any but I imagine it would be something like:
"All the elders in congregation X are drunkards and their wives are gossips."
I suppose you could have a statement like "Jehovah's Witnesses don't celebrate Christmas because they secretly celebrate Satan's birthday." But I've never heard anyone deliberately lying about JW beliefs. Why would you need to when their beliefs are obviously nonsense anyway?

JWs on campus
by Sarabethy init's my first time on this site though i am no stranger in the ex-jw community.
i come to you now asking for your assistance in what to present to the dean of students at my university.. why am i meeting with dean of students, you may ask?
because today, while innocently finishing an assignment in the school library, i happened to look out the window and see the jws with their stupid little cart.

Is there a group or religion that is already banned from advertising on campus, a group like the Moonies maybe? If so, what similarities are there between the JW's and the banned groups?
I just went on the University of Alaska Southeast to see if I could find out any info, but got totally sidetracked by the page on Bear safety! How cool is it that the health and safety policy has 5 pages on Bears! I'm going to take this advice to heart:
"Fight any black bear regardless of circumstances."

Why do Jehovah's Witnesses always answer questions through the bible?
by MarieChii inhi.. recently i've been researching jehovah's witnesses and their beliefs and found out that they don't believe in blood transfusions.
so, i've asked one of my friends who is a jw as to what is the reason for this, and so far, they had always directed me to a bible verse that is in their bible.. clearly, i wasn't getting anywhere and so far, it's pretty much frustrating to even make my friend give me reasonable reason.
when i was getting somewhere, even a smidgen, they would answer with a question.

smiddy3an hour agoan hour agoThe stock answer by many J.W`s is" OH I wouldn`t use fractions of blood"{many do of course } they miss the point .The GB of J.W`s has said it`s o.k to do so ?
Yep, that's what my JW's say. It highlights that under that Global brotherhood of Unity veneer the real attitude is "I'm alright Jack".
Some JW's may accept blood fractions (and burn at Armageddon) but I'm a true JW and I'll be fine, sort of thing.

Learning New Words
by compound complex ingreetings, fellow lexophiles:.
last night, i watched a cool road movie, the trip, with steve coogan and rob brydon.
they were counseled by steve's dad to take an "anticlockwise" route home, rather than the clockwise one steve had proposed.

I'm mad about moths. In French, moths are called Papillon de nuit which is butterflies of the night.
I was using Google translate to translate a German website about moths once and it translated the word for caterpillar into "Crawler vehicle", which I have called them ever since!
