TV commercial seen in the United States, from a Law firm "Asking if you were ever sexually abused by JEHOVAHS WITNESSES, please call".
by Dunedain inok, so i don't know if this is "old news", and if this has been seen, and or mentioned already.
if it was, i do apologize, but i feel i have to mention what has been seen on tv, within the past 24 hours.. first off, i would like to say that i did not personally see this commercial.
however, it was seen by someone that i can verify 100% is telling the truth, as it was my own father who saw it.

Watchtower let off the hook by the UK charities commission
by jambon1 insay what they like, but it's a definite withdrawal of pressure.
the commission is slow, needlessly protracted and inconsiderate of the extent to which ongoing damage is being carried out.. scrap it.

Like I have said, obviously these firms feel they can win some cases, but it is not going to be easy to win.
And not all law firms are the same - some are good, some are not so good, some are excellent, very excellent
Who knows what would have happened to those previous cases if Weitz & Luxenber had been involved in them?
But we do know that Weitz & Luxenber have a wikipedia page and interestingly Erin Brockovich works with the company - yeah you know that Erin Brockovich, as in Julia Roberts who won the Oscar for playing Erin Brockovich in the accalimed film called 'Erin Brockovich'

There's been some resistance to the Commission in certain levels of the British government. So much so, in fact, that three of the Commission's Directors have resigned is as many years.
I think you are confusing the Public Enquiry of historic child abuse in the UK with the Charity Commission investigation of the Watchtower in the UK.
Nazo Moosa, Peter Clarke and Claire Dove??
Though I don't think Claire Dove actually resigned.

You can 'find' the advert online at:
http://www.pressofatlanticcity.com/classifieds/
Just do a search for 'jehovah'
You can get to the classified section by clicking on the hamburger menu symbol at top left, then 'Buy & Sell'

Modern-day application of 2 King 20:17 ?
by darkspilver inhow can the recent newspaper and television adverts running in the new jersey/new york area of the us be used in conversation/s with any still-in family and/or friends you may know?.
the initial reaction by jws maybe to pick up on what some have said here - that the adverts has been placed by an 'ambulance-chasing' company - the impliction being that 'you see they're only after the money!'.
well, yeah, of course - they're a business - they want to make money!.

How can the recent newspaper and television adverts running in the New Jersey/New York area of the US be used in conversation/s with any still-in family and/or friends you may know?
The initial reaction by JWs maybe to pick up on what some have said here - that the adverts has been placed by an 'ambulance-chasing' company - the impliction being that 'you see they're only after the money!'
Well, yeah, of course - they're a business - they want to make money!
But now, what Bible example may this remind us of?
Turn to your Bibles - 2 Kings 20:12-18
12 At that time the king of Babylon, Be·roʹdach-balʹa·dan son of Balʹa·dan, sent letters and a gift to Hez·e·kiʹah, for he had heard that Hez·e·kiʹah had been sick. 13 Hez·e·kiʹah welcomed them and showed them his entire treasure-house — the silver, the gold, the balsam oil and other precious oil, his armory, and everything that was to be found in his treasuries. There was nothing that Hez·e·kiʹah did not show them in his own house and in all his dominion. 14 After that Isaiah the prophet came in to King Hez·e·kiʹah and asked him: “What did these men say, and where did they come from?” So Hez·e·kiʹah said: “They came from a distant land, from Babylon.” 15 Next he asked: “What did they see in your house?” Hez·e·kiʹah replied: “They saw everything in my house. There was nothing that I did not show them in my treasuries.” 16 Isaiah now said to Hez·e·kiʹah: “Hear the word of Jehovah, 17 ‘Look! Days are coming, and all that is in your house and all that your forefathers have stored up to this day will be carried off to Babylon. Nothing will be left,’ says Jehovah. 18 ‘And some of your own sons to whom you will become father will be taken and will become court officials in the palace of the king of Babylon.’”
What do we learn from this?
Awake November 2012, page 24
Another problem associated with showing off wealth is well illustrated in the Bible account of King Hezekiah, who lived in ancient Jerusalem. On one occasion Hezekiah showed “all that was to be found in his treasures” to dignitaries from Babylon. Evidently, his great wealth impressed the visitors. However, it may also have excited their greed. After they left, God’s prophet Isaiah bravely told Hezekiah that one day all his treasure would “actually be carried to Babylon.” Nothing would be left. Those words came true! Years later the Babylonians returned and hauled off all the riches that belonged to Hezekiah’s family. (2 Kings 20:12-17; 24:12, 13). Likewise today, people who flaunt their wealth may risk losing it, or at least some of it.
Note, it was not wrong for Hezekiah to have those all those treasures and his great wealth.
Likewise, it is not wrong for God's people today to have material 'wealth and treasures' BUT
BUT, what really have the GB 2.0 done by selling the Brooklyn Bethel buildings? Have they not - at least indirectly - really 'shown-off' the material wealth and treasaures that they have built up to wordly rulers - 'to Babylon'?
Recently they have been involved in some of the highest profile and biggest ever billion dollar transactions seen in the US.
And who have they sold many of the buildings too? Why - even the son-in-law of the President-elect of the US!!
Think about it - was Hezekiah being persecuted for what he did?... or was he being punished for what he did?

ARC Analysis Summary of Case Files
by Richard Oliver ini have been doing research on the arc as some people on here have suggested.
i find it interesting on the case file analysis some of the findings.
it looks like queensland and new south wales had the biggest problems with this.

Don't you think Richard that if the WT Society had done their due diligence and made it a policy to do mandatory BACKGROUND checks on these prospective elders and MS's - that those 50 elders and MS's would have never had the CHANCE or OPPORUNITY to molest and abuse children ?
I think the problem though might be moving to an over-reliance on pieces of paper, thinking it'll solve everything, but it goes far deeper than that.
Besides, look what happened only last month in Australia as reported in the Herald Sun newspaper on Thursday 8 December 2016 on page 5, with an Opinion/Editorial Piece on page 44:

I wonder if this is related to last weeks news that Nick Beales was leaving the Charity Commission and his role was being taken over by Alex Uden?
Dear all,
I am writing to advise that as of next Monday responsibility for our ongoing statutory inquiry into Watch Tower will pass to my colleague, Alex Uden. Alex can be reached at [email protected] and is looking forward to working with all of you as our investigation moves to its next stage. I am sure he will be in touch in due course with an update on our work.
[snip]
Kind regards,
Nick Beales

Which ever way you look at it, having these sort of adverts running is not good for the WT.
I'm not particularly impressed with their website, especially particularly if it's meant to be focused on JWs - but that's not the point... I suspect, that rather than wanting people to read a website, they want people to contact them directly so they can be 'signed-up' as their client - perhaps on some kind of exclusive deal?
TBH I wonder if their homework was the recent report carried by KPBS on 12 December 2016, along with the two linked items:Also the website:
Allegedly, more than 25 years ago, the Jehovah’s Witness’ Governing Body, the group of men who make and approve all policies, sent a memo to the elders of all 14,000 congregations stating that child sex abuse is a private matter and shouldn’t be discussed with anyone, especially the police. The memo also stated that revealing child sex abuse to law enforcement would result in punishment.
It is believed that elders were instead instructed to fill out a form when abuse occurred. These forms were then scanned into a database. This leads investigators to believe that there are thousands of hidden records of sexual abuse within the Jehovah’s Witnesses.
This isn't some cookie-cutter operation. They've obviously done their homework.
http://www.kpbs.org/news/2016/dec/12/how-jehovahs-witnesses-leaders-hide-child-abuse-se/
For more than 25 years, Jehovah’s Witnesses officials have instructed local leaders — known as elders — in all of the religion’s 14,000 U.S. congregations to hide sexual abuse from law enforcement. Instead, abusers were to be handled internally.

Latest News on Charity Commission Investigation into WTBTS
by gonzobear inthis has just been published on the government's website regarding the charity commission's investigation into wtbts in the uk.
it sounds a little like a backward step, and also like the society are playing clever legal games - as to be expected - but hopefully the information provided by people who've left and been affected by the society will help them reach an informed conclusion.

I know that many here favour mandatory reporting but the NSPC indicates some of the pitfalls of mandatory reporting and then it goes on to discuss the debate concerning this issue.
Interesting, thanks.
FYI I posted the below two months ago (6th November 2016) when it was featured as a big article in the UK's Observer newspaper. The article also listed those organisations for and against mandatory reporting.
