Instructions For Merging Congregations
by wifibandit ininstructions for merging congregations s-67-e 9/17.
it appears this replaces instructions for dissolving congregations s-67a-e 11/11..

thanks
it's interesting the 'spin' placed on it - after all 'merging' sounds better than 'dissolving'!!
Is the new S-67 form dated September 2017 the same as the others, or have the WT been tweaking the form?

All Donations Received @ KH During Annual Meeting Must Be Sent To The Branch
by thedepressedsoul ini just got word that in all congregations where the annual meeting is being streamed, any donations received that day, even if put in the box for the local hall must be sent to the branch immediately.. there will be an announcement made before the program starts for this arrangement.
so the extra electric needed that day, heat/ac that the congregation has to pay for does not matter.
all money donated that day has to go to the branch..

thedepressedsoul - looks like they told you wrong, wonder why? - maybe the BoE in that congregation have decided not to deduct expenses? But that's their own personal decision, WT says expenses can be deducted, as per below...
March 2, 2017 - Re: Broadcast Events Held in Kingdom Halls7. Accounts: An announcement similar to the following will be made during the broadcast program by the chairman:
“Each of us has an opportunity to share in the joy of making voluntary offerings. Contribution boxes are located at all facilities tied in to this program for those who would like to give financial support to the worldwide preaching work.”
8. Donations placed in the box labeled “Worldwide Work” should be forwarded to the branch office using jworg. Donations placed in the box labeled “Local Congregation Expenses” can be used to cover local expenses incurred during the event. Thereafter, any surplus should be forwarded to the branch office as a donation to the worldwide work.
October 2, 2017 - Re: Contributions Received at the 2017 Annual Meeting• Please place temporary labels on the contribution boxes so that all boxes are clearly labeled “Worldwide Work.”
• The elders may estimate expenses that were incurred during the use of the Kingdom Hall for the annual meeting and deduct the total from the contributions received. The expenses may include utilities and supplies, but not the purchase or rental of audio/video equipment.
• Please transfer the net contributions to the branch office using the jworg website. The amount should be submitted as a donation to the worldwide work.

The principle was highlighted back in March 2017, the recent letter, from October 2017, was just a reminder with a small update regarding temporarily re-labelling the local congregation contribution boxes to be for the worldwide work.

Apostasy: The Movie - Directed by Daniel Kokotajlo
by darkspilver indaniel kokotajlo's new film apostasy has it's world premiere at the toronto international film festival in september 2017. apostasy.
family and faith come into conflict for two jehovah’s witness sisters in manchester, when one is condemned for fornication and the other pressured to shun her sibling.. this fresh, unadorned first feature from director dan kokotajlo carries an unmistakable note of authenticity from its very first scenes.
set in a jehovah's witness community in england, the film's strength and power lies in its directness.. apostasy depicts the growing rift in a family — a mother and two daughters — who are rigorously devoted to their religion.

Diogenesister: where did you get the review darkspilver?
Everything I've posted on this thread should be labelled and hyperlinked to the original source.
Generally I've only posted/linked to 'professional' reviews rather than 'personal' ones.
There are also a couple of 'interviews' and other articles posted in this thread that provide some background to the film.
I've posted everything into just the one thread here to keep it all together so it is easier for people to all about it in just one place.

Daniel Kokotajlo, writer-director Apostasy, wins £50k IWC Schaffhausen Filmmaker BursaryBritish Film Institue, Tuesday, October 3, 2017
Stars from the UK’s film and television industries gathered tonight in support of BFI LUMINOUS, the biennial fundraising gala presented in partnership with IWC Schaffhausen. LUMINOUS’ special guest speaker Oscar-winning actor Tilda Swinton was among a host of luminaries who came together to celebrate UK film, raise money to ensure young people from all backgrounds can engage with the medium, and champion new talent and emerging filmmaking voices.
The evening culminated in the award of the coveted IWC Schaffhausen Filmmaker Bursary Award in Association with the BFI to Daniel Kokotajlo, writer/director of Apostasy, one of the UK’s most exciting new filmmaking talents. At £50,000, it is unique and one of the largest prizes for the arts in the UK, offering talent at the beginning of their career the gift of time, allowing them to grow and develop.
The Jury for the IWC Schaffhausen Filmmaker Bursary Award in Association with the BFI commented:
“We were unanimously moved by Daniel’s compelling and extraordinarily powerful debut Apostasy. We were very impressed with his delicate approach and skill at drawing in the audience and creating a subtle but incredibly affecting piece of work. We were also struck by his process – his commitment to research, lengthy workshopping and collaboration with his performers – something we felt that he would be able to develop with the benefit of this Bursary. We are excited to see where Daniel goes next and how this extremely distinctive and exciting new British filmmaking voice evolves.”
Daniel Kokotajlo, writer/director of Apostasy comments:
“Thank you for selecting the film; I come from a place where it would be a dream to win such an award and stand here. I know what it feels like to have very little, I know what it feels like when people are not listening, it’s been a difficult journey for me on Apostasy but once I worked out what I wanted to say then people did start to listen. A big thanks to the BFI and IWC for believing in me and for seeing that I have some talent.”
