Bank and ATM's..

i went to the atm to get out my housekeeping and budgeting money.

($650) this covers large bills and everyday shopping for food etc.. made the withdrawal and as i fumbled my wallet the atm took the money back.

a bank staff member was present helping another customer with the other atm and saw this.

HSBC joins RBS in refunding forgotten ATM cash

BBC News, 27 December 2012
HSBC said it would automatically refund money left in cash machines since May 2005, although the process would not be immediate.
Notes are sucked back into a machine if the user fails to take the cash within 30 seconds.
This could occur, a bank spokesman said, if customers had been distracted.
The bank has paper receipts that allow it to work out whether people have missed out.
Both HSBC and RBS changed their policies in January 2011 so notes that failed to be collected were automatically refunded to an account.
Previously customers had to claim the money back when they realised they had failed to collect the cash.
Now the banks are working with the UK Payments Council, which oversees payments strategy, to install a system that automatically refunds those who lost money for as far back as records allow.

zeb: as I fumbled my wallet the ATM took the money back

Maybe wallet fumblers shouldn't use ATMs - perhaps in future you should go to inside to the bank counter where a member of staff would be able to help you.

A central scene in Apostasy, the powerful debut from British director Daniel Kokotajlo, has a group of kids stage a re-enactment of King Solomon’s judgment, the parable from the Book of Kings. In the story, the king concocts a plan to settle who is the true mother of young boy. He says he’ll cut the child in two, dividing it among the two women. The true mother, of course, is declared after she says she’ll give up the baby. The king knows this because no mother would kill her child.
The story echoes disturbingly through this compelling drama... which never seeks to denigrate Jehovah’s Witnesses beliefs (although it certainly robustly challenges them)... It might alarm outsiders that a seemingly conventional religion might subscribe to practices more associated with Scientology.
While not belittling individuals who take up the faith, Kolkotajlo ruminates on the arbitrary sacrifices people, particularly women, make.
Jehovah’s Witnesses may subscribe to a fire-and-brimstone rhetoric, but Kokotajlo’s film is almost unnervingly restrained, with cinematographer Adam Scarth contrasting a bleak palette of industrial England with brightly-lit interiors of the Witnesses’ church. Kokotajlo’s careful control of tone and setting is disquieting – this is a film where conflicts are hidden beneath the surface, bubbling away, revealed only when this family’s rigid beliefs boil over with devastating consequences.

only just noticed on the jw borg home page that matt 24:14 is quoted with a full stop instead of a comma after the word earth then the closing quotation marks.. isn't that incorrect?.

I'd presume trailers/clips will be released as part of the marketing campaign once the film goes on 'general release'.

In the UK's Observer newspaper today (Sunday, October 15, 2017) - Apostasy got a short mention in a full page article that appears on page 29 in the main section of the newspaper - and also an 'end of article' mention that the film will be released in 2018

no, just highlighting that what a western native English speaker like myself might consider to be a "linguistic corruption" can be viewed as being acceptable in other countries.

Compared to other PDFs of letter purporting to come from the Nigerian Bethel, the OP doesn't look right - maybe because it has been very much locally produced.

A lot has been 'picked-up' by others on this thread - but I don't think the following has?.....

One thing I noted very quickly was the word spacing and lack of word-breaks - the WT style is such that they will often break words over two lines with a hyphen - the OP letter, despite being rather long, and with a number of lines that would benefit from a line-break - has NONE.

This is in contrast with other letters apparently from Nigeria that DO have word-breaks (September 19, 2017 - six line letter, words broken/hyphened on three lines; July 3, 2016 - long two page letter, words broken/hyphened on 15 lines).

This indicates to me the use of a non-WT standard word-processer/computer set-up, even when compared to other WT Nigerian letters.

I believe the Nigerian meetings are downloadable from stream.jw.org so it would be relatively easy for someone to view next week's meeting part and see if the principles of the letter are included, or not.

a friend of mine called last night we will call him tom.

he is df now for 2 yrs for associating with a a df person non relative.

anyway he arrived at the meeting this week and was informed by 3 elders that he was no longer welcomed at the hall.apparently he was caught greeting someone in the parking lot after meeting.

poopie - different countries have different laws, but as I understand it the underlying principle is:

Although open to the public, a church is private property.
If a person causes a disturbance then the person's 'implied invitation' to attend the church service can be revoked.
You could also be asked to leave / removed if you simply looked a bit scuffy - even shops have dress-codes, and they will ask you to leave if you do not abide by them.
Additionally as an interesting side issue - in the UK there is currently some debate going on about POPS - that's Privately Owned Public Spaces:

this court case has been ongoing for the last couple of months - seems like the first verdicts came out at the end of last week - with more expected shortly.the sydney morning herald, may 12 2017. man found guilty of raping and detaining succession of women .

a man accused of torturing, raping and detaining women he lived with over more than two decades has been found guilty of a raft of charges.. the 52-year-old's trial heard allegations that he physically and psychologically abused a succession of women he lived with on the nsw central coast between 1988 and 2014.. a jury found the man guilty of 10 rape charges and eight count of detaining for advantage in the nsw district court on friday afternoon.

A Central Coast man who raped and tortured a succession of women over more than two decades has been sentenced to at least 27 years in jail.
The 53-year-old man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was found guilty of 55 charges relating to the physical, sexual and psychological abuse of women he lived with between 1988 and 2014.
The man, who was a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses, was accused of raping the women with household objects and detaining them.
Justice Huggett said the degree of violence was a relevant consideration in the sentence and that the offender was "frightening, controlling and undermining each victim's sense of security".
The court heard that while in custody, the man had been verbally aggressive towards visitors and nursing staff.
