It's an interesting ongoing story....
meanwhile in the netherlands:minister dekker: jehovah's witnesses must review abuse policyin order to protect children better against abuse, the jehovah's witnesses must look back on catholics, according to minister dekker.
but abuse victims think that this approach will not work.. minister sander dekker for legal protection wants the jehovah's witnesses to conduct an independent investigation of sexual abuse within the community, just like the catholic church.
this is stated in a letter he sent this week to the parliamentary committee for justice and security.

Interesting that the Bethel families have been told, thanks for that - do you know when they where told? have they been told to keep quite the figures?
The letter to US congregations - that is due to be read out at the first mid-week meeting in January 2018 - was leaked/released yesterday on reddit:

From the Bethel tour brochure:
In 1922, the first office to oversee the work of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Greece was opened on Lombardou Street in Athens. In 1946 the small Bethel family transferred to 16 Tenedou Street and just a few years later to 4 Kartali Street.By 1978 a three-story building had been built to accommodate Bethel at 77 Kifisias Avenue, in Marousi, a northern suburb of Athens. Later, the printery needed to be expanded, so a piece of land was purchased in Eleona,70 kilometers to the north of Athens. There, a new branch office was dedicated to Jehovah in 1991. However, after the Italy branch began printing for the Greek field, it was possible to sell the Eleona property. Thus, in June 1998, our entire Bethel family returned to our Marousi facilities, which had been renovated.

december 4, 2017 to all congregations in britain and ireland re: changes to circuits.
stan livedeath: cant be that many Persian JW's in the UK.
There's about 16 groups/congregations dotted about the UK
Their convention is being held at Mill Hill Bethel KH.
Remember they'll probably be using video recorded talks in Persian (like the English videos that get 'leaked')
fyi there's around 76,000 persian as main language speakers in England and Wales

The Polish have their own stand-alone convention next year at Coventry Arena (replacing the English one!)

daveysmithy30: Just look at the number of foreign language conventions that are taking place in 2018 in which some languages are having for the first time such as Japanese, Slovak and Lithuanian.
Actually there was both a Slovak convention and a Lithuanian convention this year:

Londo111: Last year, there seems to be a slight decline or stagnation if I remember correctly.
haha!
I said 13 consecutive years of increase - and a year-on-year increase from 2015 to 2016 of 26, is still an increase, no matter how small :-0
Of course, in 'real-terms', compared to population growth, the Jdubs have decreased over the same 13 years.
december 4, 2017 to all congregations in britain and ireland re: changes to circuits.
Londo111: First--what has increased?
Britain has seen 13 consecutive years of increase in average publishers reporting, representing a 10.4% increase of some 14,000 publishers from 2003 to 2016.
december 4, 2017 to all congregations in britain and ireland re: changes to circuits.
dozy: It's probably about time that the circuits were renamed as the names dated back to the 50's when there were far fewer congregations so are often misnamed from a geographical standpoint
Ignoring the positive spin. I think the above would seem to be the real reason.
Circuits are traditionally named after the County they are in. Breaking out of this artificiality will enable circuits to be more efficiently organised, crossing over county borders, often enabling circuits to be better arranged for the CO to visit and for assemblies to be assigned.
The WT have, at last, realised they need to do a 'root and branch' exercise, rather than just fiddle with the boundaries, like they've normally done in the past.
Even without losing any congregations, it may be possible, due to more efficient boundary planning, enable them to reduce the number of circuits by 1 or even 2.

freddo: Well... sad man that I am I had a look on jwborg and counted up the present number of congregations in Scotland
Wow - you can also check out the Scottish Charity Commission - it appears they list 110, though three are not congregations - so that's a pretty good match with your figure.
