alanv - I understand that ALL the percentage changes for publishers numbers are based on 'Average Publisher' numbers, not just the USA. I've looked at the calculations. Unfortunately I don't have the average numbers, just the Grand Total Average Publisher number.

alanv: Also what is going on with USA?
I've checked, and it appears that for the % increase/decrease, the WT is actually using the 'Average Publisher' numbers rather than the 'Peak Publisher' numbers.

Gayle: Do I understand correctly, on this new Service Report, are Aux. Pios. & Reg. Pios. combined?ned?
No. Only regular pioneers (and I suspect special pioneers) - NOT auxiliary pioneers.
You can confirm that if you compare the total at the bottom of the table with the Grand Totals here:
Watchtower Releases 2017 Grand Total Figures
I understand from looking at the figures from last year, that the Pioneer numbers in the above 2017 Service Year Report do not include auxiliary pioneers, but only include regular pioneers (and I suspect special pioneers too)

the watchtower in the uk are expecting volunters in the uk to travel many 100s of miles for a days work either skilled or unskilled in the new bethel at chelmsford;from edinborough in scotland its almost a 800 mile roundtrip.
pepperheart: slidin fast they have tried with just a general invite and that cant have worked so now they are trying to put some pressure on people
It's not to do with the 'work' - having different people coming in each day for just one day, will mean that the actual useful work that these ones will be able to do will be effectively very limited - and actually they'll possibly be a hinderance as they'll need people to organise them, tell what to do etc etc
No, the real reason is that WT simply want to get as many people as possible, from all over the country, on to the site for a limited time (so they don't get in the way!) - this way those people will feel like they've had a hand in the construction - and importantly it is hoped to build enthusiasm for the new Britain Bethel.
The local Jdubs in Britain now know that the Britain Bethel will not be printing - so people are asking questions... if they're not printing, what are they actually gonna do at this big new development??... why didn't WT just downsize Britain Bethel, sell the off-site properties, and just use the main original Mill Hill property..
i'm analyzing the 221 congregations in the uk that had additional account info.. correct me if i'm wrong, but was it 2015 when the letter was read out instructing congregations to donate excess funds to the world wide work?.
the amounts donated to the world wide work are significant.
i still have much work to do.. truthseeker.

breakfast of champions: I'm most shocked that:....
Oh, they're not. I am.
I number crunched the data and devised the table myself, including the column headings etc.
I decided to go with 10ths of a percent to help give a general idea of either up-lift or down-lift.
Likewise I used both the + and the - in front to hopefully make it clearer.

thanks - yeah, seems that the 2017 Yearbook with the 2016 Service Year was the odd-one out!
I thought the WT checked this stuff 70 times or something before printing it!!!
The actual Jdub numbers and figure appear robust (ie they match up similiar year-to-year) - the only problem is the population which effects the ratio and rel-terms increase <sigh>

Phizzy: I find the figures for Ireland hard to follow, an increase in Peak Pubs, but a big increase in the ratio of general population to Pubs, which translates to a huge minus % in the last column. Would this not mean that Ireland has had a huge population increase in just one year ???
haha! thanks! they ARE hard to follow....
It appears that WT has made another typo/mistake (see notes at bottom of table regarding population of Guinea-Bissau)
WT appears to have added the population of Ireland (4.75 million) with Northern Ireland (1.85 million) to make 6.6 million
WT Ireland 2016
WT Ireland 2017
The figures for Britain appear to be unaffected with the above mistake.
Until the WT updates their own figures - I'll use 4,773,095 from The World Bank
https://data.worldbank.org/indicator/SP.POP.TOTL?locations=IE
This therefore gives:
Ireland 2017 CORRECTED
In the Grand Totals, this slightly decreases the Population, I also appear to have a mistake/typo regarding the Grand Total Ratios (excl 'Other Lands') - the 2016 ratio is 649.6 (rounded to 650) and the 2017 ratio is 648.3 (rounded to 648) - the percentage increase in real terms appears to be uneffected at +0.2%
