UPDATE - USA: Boy says school-bus driver told him he and his moms are going to hell
UPDATE regarding the above Tuesday 7 March 2017 story
Orlando Sentinel, Friday 10 March 2017
Boy says school-bus driver told him he and his moms are going to hell
Nathaly Encarnacion said she was hurt and devastated when her son came home from school telling her and her partner that all three of them were going to hell because of his moms' same-sex relationship....
It started when Encarnacion's son brought home a Jehovah's Witnesses business card in early February, she said.
He had missed his regular bus home from Alta Vista Elementary School one afternoon and was put on a different bus. He told the driver, later identified as Jacobo, that he was worried his two moms would be upset that he was getting home so late, Encarnacion said.
Jacobo allegedly told the boy in Spanish that he won't get into heaven because of his parents' same-sex relationship and gave him the business card....
“I've gotten a lot of backlash because I've been told Jehovah's Witnesses don't believe in hell,” she added, “but what he described to me is what I think of as hell.”...
“The School District's review of this incident has been completed,” spokesman Jason Geary wrote in an email. “She has been counseled by her supervisor on how to properly interact with students, including not to discuss or promote religious matters with students.”
Jacobo was hired Aug. 31, 2012, and has no disciplinary action in her personnel file, according to Geary.A policy advisory letter signed by both Jacobo and her supervisor Wednesday will be placed in her file, he said.
It calls Jacobo a valued team member and reads, “This letter is not to be construed as disciplinary in nature, but is intended to inform or re-familiarize you with School Board policy as it relates to student supervision and welfare.”
The letter points out standards of ethical conduct that state a support staff member with direct access to students shall “make a reasonable effort to protect the student from conditions harmful to learning and/or to the student's mental and/or physical health and/or safety” and “not intentionally expose a student to unnecessary embarrassment or disparagement.” -

Anony Mous: Also note that the Guardian is a derivative of the JW press releases on the topic.
The article appeared in the print version of The Guardian on Friday 10 March 2017, as a strip along the bottom 1/4 of page 32 which is in the 'Journal' section of the newspaper rather than the 'News' section. Above the article was the 'Letters Section.'
The article was written by Giles Fraser in his regular opinion style 'Loose canon' column, so named because:
Dr Giles Fraser is priest-in-charge at St Mary's Newington in south London and the former canon chancellor of St Paul's Cathedral. He writes the Loose canon column for the Guardian

The Child Safeguarding Policy is available to anyone - both publishers within the congregation and the public - 'on request.'
It would appear that when you get called on by JWs in either the UK or the Rep of Ireland, you should be able to ask them to get you a copy to read.
CHILD SAFEGUARDING POLICY of JWs in the UK and the RoI
Point 22: This Policy will be made available upon request to members of the congregation.
Letter January 1, 2017 - Re: Handling Matters Relating to Alleged Child Abuse
From time to time, organizations and others ask to see our Policy for handling matters relating to child abuse. Of course, our comprehensive and long-standing policy has been set out in various publications over the years. However, to help answer such enquiries, we have a Child Safeguarding Policy. The policy has been recently revised.
The Child Safeguarding Policy summarizes key Scriptural and theocratic principles for the protection of children. The policy includes the articles listed on page 6. Once you have entered the telephone numbers on page 6 of the Child Safeguarding Policy document, it should be printed. The articles listed in the “Notes” section are part of this document and should also be printed. Place the policy and the articles in a folder of its own, and then keep it in the congregation file. As stated on page 5: “This Policy will be made available upon request to members of the congregation.”Of course you could also get a copy of the Child Safeguarding Policy from your local AmDram Society, Youth Group/Sports Group and compare them.

Witness My Fury: We can count you know.
I am sorry you feel like that.
In terms of newsworthiness, and visitors to this forum - both those returning or new visitors coming here due to the news coverage in Australia - this is a critical few days for keeping such a petition as this to the forefront of people's attention so that it can build up a momentum and really take off.
The window of opportunity for doing this is small, and it needs to be seized with both hands at THIS time, if it is to have any opportunity of succedding.

While in the UK....
The Times, Saturday 11 March 2017
Judge says drunk women must realise they are rape targets
One of Britain’s most senior female judges has begged all women to protect themselves from predatory men while drunk on nights out, as she jailed a rapist in her final case before retiring.
She delivered her impassioned speech yesterday while jailing Ricardo Rodrigues-Gomes, 19, for six years after he raped an 18-year-old woman in Manchester.
Speaking as she retired from the criminal bench, Judge Lindsey Kushner, QC, who qualified as a barrister in 1974 and was appointed a senior circuit judge in 2002, issued a stark warning:
“There is absolutely no excuse and a woman can do with her body what she wants and a man will have to adjust his behaviour accordingly.
But as a woman judge I think it would be remiss of me if I didn’t mention one or two things.
I don’t think it’s wrong for a judge to beg women to take actions to protect themselves.
That must not put responsibility on them rather than the perpetrator.
How I see it is burglars are out there and nobody says burglars are OK, but we do say, ‘Please don’t leave your back door open at night, take steps to protect yourselves.
Girls are perfectly entitled to drink themselves into the ground but should be aware that people who are potential defendants to rape gravitate towards girls who have been drinking.
It should not be like that but it does happen and we see it time and time again.
They do it because first, a girl who is drunk is more likely to agree as they are more disinhibited — even if they don’t agree they are less likely to fight off a man with evil intentions.
Even if they manage to have their way with a girl or woman without her consent the likelihood is she will be less likely to report it because she was drunk or cannot remember what happened or feels ashamed to deal with it, or — if push comes to shove — a girl who has been drunk is less likely to be believed than one who is sober at the time.
I beg girls and women to have this in mind.
They are entitled to do what they like but please be aware there are men out there who gravitate towards a woman who might be more vulnerable than others.
That’s my final line, in my final criminal trial, and my final sentence.”
