On my feeds, Nightline follows Jimmy Kimmel, so presumably Tuesday after JKL, whatever your timezone. -

I feel like a total idiot for staying in decades longer than I should have.
Sheep are interesting creatures—docile, timid, and often plain stupid.
Way too true.

The couple then left the hospital, went to a phone box, and found the phone number for the Kingdom Hall. They called the brothers and explained their situation. The brother told them to stay put and they would then come meet them.
Has anyone EVER telephoned the Kingdom Hall and had someone answer - never mind this fantastical story?

Remember their story about the man who taught Koine Greek and how he became a JW and praised the NWT? Well, that story is true. What does it prove? That the NWT is an accurate translation? No, it doesn't prove anything. The dude ain't even a JW anymore.
I carried a photocopy of that article (How Knowing Greek Led Me to Know God) in my service case to counter opponents of the NWT.
Can I ask how you know that he is out?

Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief
by Rufus T. Firefly ini hope this link works for everyone.
if you can watch this video, i think you will find it very interesting how closely scientology resembles the watchtower society.
for example, the watchtower's 'apostates' equate to scientology's 'suppressives.

Funny Story, I started reading Reddit today....
by eyefell4it2 inok so maybe i am a bit old school, late to the party, or whatever but i just discovered some subreddits (other than ex-jw) that have me completely addicted to the site.
for the whole afternoon, i have been going through the tifu section (pm me if you can't find the meaning of the acronym but just google it and the meaning should come up).
anyways, i thought i would share some funny ones here because, hey, we all need a good laugh and there's plenty of laugh provoking material on the net.

Disfelowshipping / Expelling
by freein2004 inthe insight book volume 1 page 788 uses matthew 5:22 and acts 10:28 as biblical support for dfing and shunning.. thoughts?
hopefully someone upload the insight book page here.
i don't have the means.. i should have said that basically the top paragraph in the insight book is supporting shunning because the israelites shunned the man of the nations and tax collectors?

4 points:
- Tax collectors and sinners. Jesus was criticized for fraternizing with them.
- Insight book states that religious societies have a "right inherent" analogous to the powers of capital punishment - hence, the ridiculous notion many elders have that they should be able to stone someone to death for smoking, etc. (From where does this "right inherent" arrive?)
- Jehovah's Action - For Miriam, she suffered "a humiliating seven-day quarantine" (Insight 2, page 415). Hardly a 3 to 5 year psychological exile, including that of minors and other immediate family.
_ The following paragraph was not in the Aid book, but another alteration because of the 1980/81 purge: "However, regarding any who were Christians but later repudiated the Christian congregation or were expelled from it, the apostle Paul commanded: “Quit mixing in company with” such a one; and the apostle John wrote: “Never receive him into your homes or say a greeting to him.”—1Co 5:11; 2Jo 9, 10.

JW Cart's Family Photos. My Pusher stole my JWCart1975 I.D. but here I am!
by JWCart insome of us ride, some of us roll.. .
family reunion of jw carts gathering together for missionary work, some people waste their time in liberia trying to help ebola victims, jehovah's organization spends all their time focused on meaningful endeavors by bringing them salvation.
pusher said "why bother helping when people are going to die anyway, focus on the big picture (joining jehovah's organization is the only way to eliminate homelessness, hunger and global issues", doctors waste their time in west africa when they could be pushing carts with literature and books, that's real healing", i still don't understand why we can't help the poor and sick but than again, i am just a jw cart!.

Interesting phrase.
Jan 15, 2001 WT
There was one exception. In 1940, Hayden C. Covington—then the Society’s legal counsel and one of the “other sheep,” with the earthly hope—was elected a director of the Society. (John 10:16) He served as the Society’s vice president from 1942 to 1945. At that time, Brother Covington stepped aside as a director to comply with what then seemed to be Jehovah’s will—that all directors and officers of the Pennsylvania corporation be anointed Christians.
