  Yes, I apologize. Was watching this on CBC.

  Typical Canadian. That is to say, we're Human Beings (hey Tal and Simon).

  So, a plane crash lands (uh, hard lands ??? ).

  No question, everyone is naturally in panic mode - get me the F out of here.

  Mr. Earle says to himself, not out of, "Geez, if I do this, if I help this person with their groceries, if I shovel their sidewalk while in service, blah, blah, blah." says, not, this person who has lived long enough, but, THIS IS A HUMAN BEING, who needs help, and does what a fellow human being does what is needed.

  the great fish aside, what i could never wrap my head around was the repentance of nineveh.. a city of 140,000 heard one lunatic "prophet" who warned repent or die and the entire city from the king to the least repented in ashes.. insight says this was during jeroboam ii - 844 bc to 803 bc.. and yet, scant decades later, in 740 bc, god used these, the ultimate of cruel, sadistic barbarians to destroy israel.. 1. why would god ask this depraved city to repent, and not ask others, including sodom and gomorrah, to repent?.

  2. can one honestly believe that, with god as the one reading all of their hearts, all of 140,000 people sincerely repented?.

  3. insight describes the assyrians, in 740 bc, as being of unparalleled cruelty.

  The real point of the story is the contrast between Jonah's grief about the death of a tree and his disappointment that thousands of Assyrians are not to be destroyed after all. It is a tale about compassion for humanity, even for your enemies.

  Which is really the point, isn't it?

  Jonah felt sorry for a plant, but not for 140,000 people. Wicked, cruel beyond imagination, people. Spared. But, meanwhile we (JW's) "witness" to 8 billion people, the vast majority of whom lead better lives than said average JW, and tell them to leave their "worldly" lifestyle, join us by sacrificing your money, your career, your education, your future, and your family, and, hopefully, this loving God of ours will also spare your life.

  I saw and heard something in a Kingdom hall I thought I would never witness!

  when i was a kid i would hear religious songs on tv and start sining them... not knowing they were church songs... one day i started singing the hallelujah song (not sure the exact name of the song) my father quickly gave me a hard slap on the mouth and said if i ever sang that song again he would take his belt off and beat my butt until it was red!.

  well fast forward 30 years..... the public speaker was missing today and so tv.jw>org to the rescue.... instead they decided to play the new video about the last hundred years since 1914.. instantly the hall was filled with the exact same song i was punished for!

  yes a church song filled the hall for almost 5 minutes as we watch br.

  that the 'battle of the great day of God Almighty' (Rev. 16:14), which will end in A.D. 1914 with the complete overthrow of earth's present rulership, is already commenced.

  My reading of this, if written in 1908 AD, is that Armageddon had already commenced by 1908.

  i was raised in the truth my whole life, my immediate family are jws and my moms mom is a witness as well as my fathers mom.

  other than that the rest of my family are non jws.

  i was raised very balanced, my parents never forced the truth on me or my siblings like most of my friends parents did getting baptized at ridiculous ages!

  I was raised in the truth my whole life, my immediate family are jws and my moms mom is a witness as well as my fathers mom. Other than that the rest of my family are non jws. I was raised very balanced, my parents never forced the truth on me or my siblings

  You can see the effect that propaganda reinforcement has just in the way that you talk to us (I did the same). So, you can imagine the effect upon your family. It is hard to be outside looking in, and trying to shake them Awake! (ping)

  You face a challenge because your bf and you tried to do the right thing (going back). Too many here have learned the hard way of the deceptive nature of the borg. Trying to do right always backfires. They are the masters of the blindside.
  

  It's terrifying, however funny, my relationship with my husband is better than ever, and I wake up happy every morning. Guilt free!

  This is the great development in your lives. Hopefully, you will enjoy the joy of parenthood, and, as we move further and further from non-Armageddon, hopefully many other families forced to shun will also wake up.

  i'm in contact with service and writing and brochure first step there bleeding publishers they can't take it anymore publishers are depressed because they feel they must shun others and they know it's unloving.

  The other major change that they made is to openly acknowledge that they shun in their FAQ's.

  "We do not automatically disfellowship someone who commits a serious sin. If, however, a baptized Witness makes a practice of breaking the Bible’s moral code and does not repent, he or she will be shunned or disfellowshipped."

  If the FAQ's do not change, then the policy is not changing.
